I bought an MSD 6AL Ignition for my 1990 Mustang GT and now I want to purchase a MSD Coil. Either going for the Blaster II or Blaster III but I just wanted to know what the difference really is between the two. I noticed through Summit there is 4 different Blaster II coils you can order. One for stock ignitions, one for MSD ignitions, another for Ford Duraspark ignitions and lastly a chrome one for MSD and OEM ignitions. I just wanted a little more info about these, I have never messed with my ignition before.

MSG=Monosodium glutamate.
MSD=Multiple spark discharge.
big difference.
sounds as though the blaster III would be the one you want since you are running a MSD ignition.
Blaster III Coils (Blaster 2 - PN 8202, Blaster 3 - PN 8223, Blaster 2F - PN 8205) can be used in stock applications, but do not include a ballast resistor. When you are using an MSD Ignition Control, the Ignition is responsible for delivering the voltage to the coil so a ballast is not necessary.

The following Blaster 2 Coils ( Blaster 2 - PN 8200 and Blaster 2 - PN 8203) are supplied with a 0.8 ohm ballast resistor and a terminal and boot to fit most applications. The ballast resistor must be used with stock Points Ignition and Mallory Unilite applications.

i have a blaster 2 coil and msd pro billet distributor but i dont have the ignition module. does this mean i need a new coil when i get the module? also what do you guys think of the msd super conductor wires?
