MSD Distributor / Blaster 2

I was reviewing some of the posts concerning MSD products. While there seems to be some debate regarding the benefit to performance, no one mentioned how difficult these products are to install.

I reviewed the instructions for the coil and they don't seem that complex, however, the directions for the distributor seem a little more complicated. I found some information on one site that stated the "ready to run" distributors are fairly easy to install but in comparison to what???? Opinions? Thoughts?

Also, how much HP can I expect. My 289 V8 is mostly stock. Check my sig for details.

I spoke with a mechanic earlier today and he told me that he could install both for about $300.

Money isn't really an obstacle for me. Like Dave Chapelle says: I'm rich b----! I will end up getting the MSD distributor and Blaster 2. The question at hand is how difficult is it to install these two parts? I'm not interested in saving money but learning a little something about my car. Thoughts?

its really not very difficult as long as ur stock dist isnt seized up in the motor
just set the motor to top dead center of the compression stroke pull out the old distrubtor install the new one with the rotor button facing number 1 wire on the cap (oh and make sure u dont knock off the oil pump drive shaft in the oil pan should have a locking tab to keep it from moving but u never know if the last person in there put it back of not good luck

It will be hard to install for the person whp dosent know jack **** about electronics..... i was wiring up MSD systems when i was like 13, its not hard IMo but im good with electronics, to jut jook up the coil being hard is BULL**** all you have to do is swap em out lol

The dist WITH a box can get complicated but not hard, just wires and locations brotha

Actually, it's I'M RICK JAMES, B!#H!:D :rlaugh: And once you get the dizzy in right, the rest is luicrously easy! 3 wires on the dizzy, 2 on the coil, and a coil wire...doesn't get much easier than that! If you want to talk about complicated...try pulling a Nissan VG30E without labeling anything or taking pics, and keeping all that sh!1 straight! :bang:
