I was wondering has anyone ever cut their factory mufflers off and welded tubing into place, so no mufflers but leaving the factory exhaust. Will i encounter any problems with doing that. the cats would still be on there. Also i know its been asked but i have an 04 GT with the factory 17 inch bullitts and the 245 45 17's on there but its time for new tires all around. i want to go wider in the rear and also i plan on dropping it just with some new springs don't want to get into the full suspension yet. so i was thinking 275/40 in the rear or can i do that all around and then the steeda springs. don't want it to look to low but i do want it lower than what it is right now can you guys help me out. need to order tonight. thanks

Will

I drove around once with just the stock H and it's a bunch of untuned white trash garbage.

The volume and grunt of it is cool, but you gain a lot more respect for what mufflers do along side reducing noise once you hear how craptastic open pipes sound. It's more of a random assortment of noise then a burly v8 sound. Thats what I mean by untuned.

I wouldn't go any wider then 255 on the stock rims, if you want 275 please step up to a wider 9'' rim. They're 245 for a reason.

yeah i know, well i guess i'll just do the muffler thing is it cool to get a set of mufflers and keep the factory exhaust for now, and for the tires. i was checking out a page that said i could safely go up to 275 40 17 on the 17x8 rim

Get an off road X or H pipe that will give you a lot more sound then just mufflers, keep the stock cat-back if you need to save cash.

Agreed. The stockers do not sound bad if you keep them and swap the mid pipe for something sans cats.

Do the X or H. You won't need a tune from a tb, plenum, and mid pipe. Your computer will adjust for it. The only time you really need to tune the car is when you swap major componets like cams, heads, power adders **** like that.

Sounds like you have an air leak then, a plenum and tb shouldn't throw any codes. Check all your connections and gaskets.

go with 255's up front and 275's in the rear. i got 275's in the rear of mine on stock rims ( i think they are either 8 1/2 or 9)
