Muffler recomendations for a daily driver?

I was thinking of re-doing my exhaust this summer after I rebuild the 289 (hopefully have the money). I have heard flowmaster sound good and all but they do tend to get a bit old when you do drive the car every day. So what do you think? I still want a decent sounding roar from the engine, but something thats cool enough to drive everyday.

(BTW is there anyway to really tell what kind of mufflers are already on my car, because it does have dual through straight pipes, but thats how i bought it, and those have decent noise but might as well be replaced)

I think you could get away with any muffler that goes on a current Mustang.

Flows own on old cars, but maybe you should get Magnaflow mufflers or something of the like to be different. Just a thought.

Flows sound great, the biggest thing is to make sure you have pipes run all the way out the rear of the car.
I ran mine with turndowns under the car... The drone will drive you nuts.
If you want turndowns under the car, or don't want to turn cop heads, just get a good set of Turbos. They sound awesome without too much noise and no drone. They are kinda the gold standard for driver muscle cars.

(Hijacking in progress) I have long tube headers with an H-pipe and dual turbos exiting out the rear valance and it does sound decent. It's fun to set off alarms on parked cars, BUT, I was thinking if anyone knows of any mufflers that have good performance (low restriction) but a little quieter than the turbos.

spintec prostreet, but for everyday they would prob be a little loud I guess. Then again I would put up with it for how they sound. droooooooool

I tried flowmaster 40's and they would make you grit your teeth at certain rpm with interior noise. I now have flowmaster 50's and they are alot better as far as interior noise, but still sound good outside. Its a tight fit but they do fit.

I also am running the flowmaster 50's, three chamber, in my 68 coupe with dual exhaust. They are not as loud as the 40's, two chambers, inside the interior of the car, but sound great outside. But, I have used sound deadner insulation and installed it in the floor, doors, sides below the quarter window, and the trunk and behind the back seat.
Even with this, I have to turn the radio up higher and my wife has to speak louder for me to hear her at times while cruising. But it is worth it when you get on it and hear that muscle car sound. My engine is a 302 that has been increased about 100 hp over the stock 4 barrel engine.

I had a set of dynomax ultra flows on my stock 302 and it was nice and quiet till i romped on it. NOw with my built 289 its lowed everywhere.

i just have meineke house turbos (walker turbo rebrands??) and they are QUIET on the highway but sweet it idle and romp on it, but not overbearing

I am running the Flowmaster Delta flow 50's. They are some what tamer than just the regular 50's. But they still sound good when you get on it.

My vote goes for the the MagnaFlows. I have them on my 2000 GT and I love 'em! Nice low rumble at idle and a low pitch roar when you get on it. No droning and interior noise is rather comfortable at highway speeds.
