This is what I'm planing to do , since i'm trying to save some $$$

I'll order the 2 chamber flowmaster Mufflers , and weld them in (NOT the stock 2.25 pipes) i will get the 2.5 pipes and weld the mufflers in. the question is , will i see the exact gains i would see from just ordering a ready to instal Cat back , such as SLP or borla ?

Don't know if you have read the catback performance article about Borlas, but you can get the Pro XS for $69 at Wickednicky.com. Supposed to be the best gains for average hp and sound nice as well. At least the 2.25" ones are 69, not sure about 2.5" inlet/outlet.

Wow- everyone seems to be all over the place-

1. Will you see the same gains as a catback- NO

2. Bang for buck- the best way to go is a set of satin finish (used to be aluminized) Magnaflows-

they are a straight through design muffler, stainless, life time warranty and are pretty cheap as well-

Part number on the Magnaflow is 11235

You should be able to pick them up for about $60 each-

heres one more view on slowmasters-NO
get high flow cats with front x-pipe or just use the off road x-pipe (no cats).
a low cost setup ="pypes" (brand name) 2-cat x-pipe sounds good with stock muff.
x-pipe and stock cat-back sounds better that flowmasters any day.
If you must get cat-back then magnflow or magnapac

Hmmm, I have heard flowson some stangs caused a lose of power :dunno:

If you want anything out of the catback you need a stright thorugh design, but the real bottle neck is the mid-pipe, the catbac kis really just for sound.

Flows shouldnt decrease power at all as they are chambered and wont cause you to lose as much back pressure in most cases..if anything will hurt low end power I would think a straight thru muffler would as there is very little resistance..
