Multifunction switch replacement

Hello all,

Our blinkers are starting to act crazy, they'll work sometimes but other times the right blinker will blink really fast, but the bulbs are just fine (and the blinker fluid is just fine )

I'm going to try the electronics cleaner method first but how do I replace this thing if that doesn't work? I looked through the "how to" thread already...

A light blinking really fast, especially if the "click" you hear sounds in time with the blinks, usually means there's high resistance in your lights wiring. It's a mechanism by Ford to tell you a bulb is burned out. Have you checked that all your lights are actually working and all the bulbs are nice & bright?

Well, no I lied; it means your blinker fluid has expired.

To replace the multifunction switch, you have to remove the plastic cover around the steering column. Removing the bottom is easy, you remove four screws and the plastic pops off. While the plastic is somewhat flexible, make sure you have all the screws out or you'll break the plastic. The top part is held in by the ignition switch; you might be able to just pull the plastic out of the way but you have to be careful not to break it.

The multifunction switch is held in by two torx head screws, which you can see from the side (looking at the switch itself). There are two electrical connectors which are a PITA to remove. Try using a small screwdriver to pry them up enough so they come off.

Installation is, of course, the reverse of these instructions.

try the flasher. its cheap. and easy. and might be the prob.

Very true, I forget they go bad. The flasher is the yellow box behind the fuse box under the dash.
