mustang 5.0 pulley set up

I'm used to working and chevys and vw but i was recently was given a 89 mustang with a 94 5.0 in it. At least that is what the man said. I'm trying to get it running but my belt keeps wanting to come off about half way. I have no a/c compressor but the bracket is there on the left with the belt tensioner bolted to it. Should the alternator be on the left looking down in the engine compartment or should it be on the right. Or can it be either way? If pictures are needed to help someone understand what i'm talking about i think i can get them. Thanks

This should help some although im not sure if the belts are routed different between the 87-93 and the 94-95 5.0s.
