Mustang '97 questions

First off, I just got a '97 mustang used. It's automatic (they just had the transmission replaced) and when I start it up I hear a rattle... then i start driving and it starts grinding if i go under 30... usually over 30 it stops. What the heck is wrong with it, the grinding is in the back left... around the tire. (Yes i've checked the air) So i'm assuming it's the muffler.

Second, one the dashboard right next to the turn signal switch and odometer there's a red switch with a black knob above it that can be turned to the right... i've asked around and WHAT THE HECK IS IT

Ok, well this forum seems to be dead. The red switch was the fog lights, the grinding... it kind of sounds like it could be the suspension coil... is it possible that it was sitting too long and just needs to be broken back in?

Does the rattle sound like it's associated with the speed of the tire, or with the bounces of the suspension? I doubt that a spring would be rattle, even if it sat for awhile.
