Probably not going to get the car on the dyno. As for 600+ that will be the low number compared to the supras. Should still be fun. Hope someone bring a domestic to represent!

They dont kick you out if you miss meetings, they dont discriminate about brands, they dont waste their money putting out newsletters that most of their members dont ever read, etc...

Kinda an anit-club-club. But they are active in cruises, parades, get-togethers, etc and they have alott of fun doing it.

Ok so those are more ideas what not to do, but still important in the grand scheme of things....

All things you listed are certainly what we would want, and no FEE's! You should not have to pay to be a part of something that is fun I believe the rate of members in an average club that attend meetings is only 30~35% which is funny if you ask me.

Second, many car shows and cruise-ins are put on by a car club.
Third, most mustang clubs are run by a handful of dedicated folks. You will find very few people will help out when it comes to volunteering for club offices or projects
Fourth, this time of year most clubs are in the process of electing new officers. Many have their cars tucked away for the winter. In a few months the car show season will start again.

While I don't care either way about fees. You have not responded to the other issues. Like keeping up to date information on cars and owners. Why are websites so far behind? Why is it a mustang club has more trucks? Sure most clubs are run by dedicated people. As it should be. But do they have to be out of date and going off topic?

I don't have a good answer for the website issues - even my own club is way behind in updates. I have asked the question to the person maintaining the KMC website and he said he didn't have time to fool with it.

Not to bash your club or the guy maintain the website. But "fool with it" doesn't exactly sound like he takes it very seriously.

Keep in mind, these are only my thoughts, and the reasons you listed are why I truely believe that car clubs today dont keep up with current times. I am not here to defriend or devalve any persons club. If you are defending something that is true to you, thats great, as we all have certain valves that are important to us. For me, I have an idea of what I would enjoy doing, and sitting in a 90 minute meeting talking about old business is not my idea of hot rodding. The only problems I have with joining a club is that the ones I have visited with or stopped by for a meeting have been mostly stuffed-shirts, who for the most part didn’t know squat about working on cars. They were people with fat wallets and no ability. Those kind of people get on my nerves more than anything else...

They sure had plenty of attitude, looking down their nose at my lx, because it didn’t have any chrome, and the paint was old and faded, etc... never mind that I had at least done the work myself (stereo, speakers, sub box, seats, trans, clutch, exhaust, engine build, radiator, fans, gauges, shifter, body kit, hood, ECM tuning, 5 lug conv, brake upgrade, etc..) with the exception of the fuel pump, suspension pkg, and posi (thanks Jeff and Jeff), I BUILT MY CAR.
And we wont even go into their car show queens never seeing a track.....

It seems like many of the people who were there, were in the club to see who could out-do the other and then stand around and brag about their trophies. That’s not why I love cars, and it certainly isn’t the kind of people I want to spend my time around.

For example I ask one guy what’s done to his car, and he rattles off like a dozen upgrades (chrome this, body color painted that,etc...) not only was there not one performance improvement anywhere on the vehicle, but he hadn't done ANY of the work. (a checkbook stanger)

But he had a bunch of trophies to brag about....

(reminded me of some corvette owners I know...)

Anyhow, clubs shouldn’t charge dues, that they spend on trophies. Especially ones that go to flash and bling, instead of knowledge and ability.

See, I am annoyed with my Aunt due to some of what you mentioned. I love her to death, but this irritates me. She had a 1968 Plymouth Sport Satellite that was my grandfather's. He left it to her in his will, and she didn't take care of it. I wanted to get my hands on that car and build it up with my dad since we never really spent time together. I knew he loved cars, and I wanted to learn more. It was the perfect opportunity to bond. Well, it never happened and she eventually ran into a guy that restores classic cars. He was big into Mopar and offered to trade a 1966 Fastback that he restored in exchange for the car outright. She took it, has showed it, and has won some trophies and gloats about but has not done a single thing to that car. It bothers me because she did not earn the right to brag because has not put any work into the car.

My knowledge on cars is limited. I hardly have any mechanical skills but I am an electronics whiz. I have never really turned a wrench but I am eager to learn. I plan on doing some basic things to my car and then work on learning what I can. My resources are somewhat limited unfortunately, but I have the desire to learn more. I read up on whatever I can, and have plans for my car. I know that I will need help to achieve what I want, but I don't just want to pay someone to do it and not care about how it works as long as it works. True, I wouldn't mind forking the cash over for a Saleen and what not but I also want to know how it ticks and what makes it tick. I know I wouldn't be able to take a beater and turn it into a power monster because I wouldn't really know where to begin.

I love cars though. Flash and bling is nice, but there is more to a car. All show and no go is weak sauce. I like a car that has good looks but is just as fast as how good it looks. I can appreciate a car that doesn't look like much but is a monster on the strip. Christ, I just watched a badass video of a 9 second Geo Metro. The sleeper thing is completely awesome, and I can appreciate the work that people put into a car. Nothing is more pleasing than the rumble and growl of a muscle car, and I live for that noise and the feel of those cars. I just wish I had the ability to build it myself. It's never too late to learn, and I hope I can start soon.

I don't know about a lot of you out there but i am in it for the love of cars especially mustangs so i don't care if you did all the work yourself or you payed to have it done. some people just don't have the skills to work on cars or just dont want to but they still love there car. I am down to start a local club and have spoken with a few others that would also like to do it. So if there is anybody else out there that just loves the cars and enjoys being around them and seeing what people have done then contact me because i would like to get this going soon.

Most of your statements get on my nerves. The idea of a club is to have fun and meet/hang out with people with the same love for cars regardless of make, model, bling or their ability to work on cars. It's also a way to help the new generation learn and get help from the more seasoned guys. Every club has members that have attitude, take your statements for example.

I don’t mind if a guy pays to have his work done, as long as he doesn’t stand around all pompous and smug talking smack about how much better his car is / looks, when he hasn’t done any of the work, and more importantly couldn’t even if he had to. ( read: a55hole )

I paid to have my fuel pump put in, not because I couldn't do it, but because it was easier to have my car back in two hours, than to be laying on the shop floor for a whole day (dirt and gas in the eyes, etc...).

Ya want to have awards and trophies, cool... how about best home built, or best engineered car, or most cheap chrome stuff hung everywhere, biggest wing perhaps...

Well yes and no Will,

Most of those who do on here, dont stand around all smug talking down to those who dont. (pay for work that is)

Thats one reason I think our get togethers are such a good time...

I guess if I gave the other clubs a chance, after a while I would find a group within the group, who are more laid back, but why pay for what ought to be free.

Like one of the clubs they do like 2-3 car show type events every year, but no drag race, no raod race... you know.
