i dont think they meant it to be a replacement for the mustang. its just based on the mustang.

It's different as far as ford goes, but it sorta looks Like A Chrysler 300

It looks like the 427 Concept car that Ford built about a year before the 300C ever happened

So now you have to ask yourself, who copied who? I like the 300 but it is a bit of a copy. I think they might have both copied from the Bently though.
