I thought of eliminating the muffler on my v6, but I heard it is pretty obnoxious and can damage the manifold, as if puts pressure on the flange. What do you all think? What is the cheapest way to get sound out of the sixer?

The muffler is nowhere near the exhaust manifold to cause the problem you are describing. Removing the muffler will make the car louder, but i do not know if the sound will be "better".

give me till tommorrow and i will make a video of my car with no muffler and then you can judge wheather or not you like it i'll repost later with a link to youtube for you to hear what mine currently sounds like. And there is no way it will damage the manifold, but you have to keep the cats on so that way you have some back pressure to keep the valves from warping.

Sorry really busy today and it got dark when i was done with classes but ill definately get it done by friday at the latest

The cheapest way and what gave me inspiration for my exhaust system is to just buy one Flowmaster 10 Series muffler and put it on- You'll get volume and a proper tone.

well unless they just give away the flowmaster 10 series you can't say its the cheapest way, granted it might have a little better tone and mite take the crackle out of the exhaust at high rpms at idle, with no muffler at all you get a really nice tone while driving and is not out of control and not loud enough to get a noise violation ticket for. basically its all in your mind set, for the longest time i was dead set on getting a single in dual out muffler but then every place i went to said it wouldn't fit, or it was too big so then at the last mehanic shop i went to i just had him pull the muffler off and replace with pipe, granted it didn't cost me anything because i'm friends with him, but if you know how to weld and have access to a mig welder you can just entirely get rid of the muffler. granted one day it will have dual exhaust but for now its just a single with no muffler and i like the way it sounds. and that brings me to the final point everybody has a different tone that they like and the best way to do your exhaust is to the tone you want on it yourself.
