Mustang for second vehicle

Hello everyone, My name is Chris and I live in Scottsdale, AZ. I currently drive a 2004 Jeep Wrangler, and I'm in the market for a second car. Basically I'm looking to spend under $30,000, and I like especially like sports cars. I'm looking at a GT, and a Deluxe (both 2006). What one do you think would be the best?

I'm buying this car for highway driving mainly. I need something that is fast, yet comfortable and sporty. Have any opinions/suggestions?

Are you talking about a GT deluxe vs a GT premium? If so, just look at the equipment and decide what you want. The premium has all the goodies.
If that's not what you mean by a deluxe, then I don't know what you are talking about.

i think hes talking about the gt and v6. if so, go and drive both of them. the v6 is pretty quick, but the gt is very quick. if it is just for hiway usage, then i would buy the v6. theres no need for 300 ponies on the hiway. after you drive both, decide your preference. otherwise we will all be telling you to buy a gt!!!!

I meant the V6. I drive a 10 lane freeway to work everyday, and I need something that can go over 80 mph. I plan on keeping my Jeep for offroad use, and to tool around Scottsdale, but my Mustang will be my primary car.

I think Bigcat is trying to say, that the 06-V6 would be your best bet.. Keep in mind, the engine in the 05-06 (V6) (stock) can produce over 439RWTQ with a $600 nitrous kit.. Just keep that in mind.. Oh, and can run low 12's in the 1/4 mile.. Remember these numbers when the salesman tries to make you buy a GT!

Given that you're talking about driving the North Loop 101 I'd say the V-6 will do quite nicely. I've driven that section of highway quite a bit and the V-6 handles it well and makes an awesome statement!! Just keep in perspective that the V-6 will not be the fastest car on the road so if you have visions of racing the Snottsdale kiddies in their Porsches, Vettes, and Vipers you may want to consider the GT instead!

LOL!! Try and avoid getting under the old mans skin! The punishment dished out in anything stock besides a GT500 will be brutal! Needless to say, your dad's bark is bad, but his bite is vicious!

None of us around here in stock cars can teach your dad a lesson.. Now there are some SVT Cobra's running around here that could strike back at the old man, and make him re-think his position. But for the most part, POPS is no joke!

Also, forget about taking him in a 1/2 mile shot.. That would hurt too much.. 6 or 7 car lengths is enough to leave your room dirty for 1 year.. Your better off suckering him into a 1/8 mile run.. This way, you can cross the line before he brings out a can of "WooPaSS"!!!...LOL!

You may consider an 03/04 Cobra to push your dad around in. It will be in your price range if you can find one. Not sure how many are floating around down there. If it's the right one, it may already be pushing 500 to 600 HP. Mine was.

I don't accually care for the pre 2005 model look. A friend of mine HAD a 2002 Ford Mustang, and to me it didn't have the curves the new 2005, 2006 models have.

My father passed on a passion for cars, and since then, I've always wanted to take him on in a "race" so to speak.

I REALLY want to beat him in a drag race, but my cars could never compare to his, given that he has money to blow on Porsche's, I don't think I could probobly match him in a Mustang.

It's like having a childish neighbor that always wants to one-up you. I buy a Mustang, he buys a Porsche; I buy a Corvette, he buys a Ferrari; I buy a race car, he buys a Racing Team. So I guess I'll never win, but I still love the Mustang none the less.

Tomorrow I'm going to test drive a few Mustang models, and see which one I like.

I'm sure Sawman70 wouldnt mind helping you straighten your dads attitude up.. Just offer him some Redwood trees in the backyard he could cutdown for ya!

Then you need more than a Mustang GT to do that. Maybe a C6 Corvette at the minimum, a Z06 preferably Or wait a year or two and try the Shelby Mustang, it might come closer anyway...

Well I'm doubting that I could honestly beat him, and I don't have an unlimited cash supply (I doubt he'll loan me $50,000 just so I can beat him).

I have to keep it under $30K, so a Corvette is out of my price range right now, and the Shelby Mustang will be too.

I'm still excited to get my new Mustang though!

I've searched through dealer's inventory online, and none of them have any 'Stangs in stock that meet my criteria. I'm thinking of just custom building it from the ground up.

I might even go to Flat Rock, MI and see it getting built.

You are SOOOOOO right! On the other hand walk into Jillies on a Friday or Saturday night and you'd think that you were walking around in a wannabe millionaires club. On the other hand, there sure is some nice scenery there!

On a more on-topic note, based on the information you've provided I'd definitely look at a GT at a bare minimum. As others have said you'd have ZERO chance beating your dad in a fair race with a V-6. Well maybe if he forgot his keys...

Just remember, it will take a GT and a power adder to beat him, whether it be Nitrous or a blower, the GT will need more than 300HP to beat him.

i got walked on by a 1989 porsche last week in my gt and I mean walked on but at least 20 car lengths by the time I got to 90 mph. it was a turbo though and spit fire out of the exhaust.
