Fox Mustang Gt Battery ?

Well for some reason my car did want to start after not driving it for about a month. Normally it still turns on, but not sure why the battery drained this time around. To my surprise, it is not easy to find the correct battery for this 92 Mustang GT Foxbody. I checked Sears, and O'rileys, and nope. Autozone also does not have any ? I wouldn't buy from there anyhow, they die reall quick. I need a good battery, and wondering what you guys use, and if you have issues with it. Is there something i am not aware that i also need besides the battery ? Should i do a kill switch ? I'd like to know what you guys use, and how often you drive, and does it last, or do you charge your battery ? Info apprecaited, i want to make sure i don't make a mistake like the last car i owned. I had to buy a battery for that car every year and a half, till i finally broke out $250 and got me the Optima. Thanks all.

dude, they made a mlllion of these cars. The battery is a group 58. I like Interstate Batteries. Not sure why you can't find a battery. I found it at 4 national parts stores

Just disconnect your battery if you store it for more than a week. THose quick dsconnects are known to break.

Thanks for the links, my O'Reilyauto site was down, but even though there is only one battery which fits from their site. Also one from shop.advanceauto, and summit does not have any which match my year car it states. Good to know about the quick dsconnect. thanks.

Motorcraft does still make a good battery, I honestly use Exide battery's in all my cars and they last 5-6 years with regular use.
Have you considered a battery tender?

Every time my battery dies, I always replace with a Sears die hard gold. I've had great luck with them and the one in my fox is from 2009 and still kicking.

Never really had a problem finding one though.

I use the above battery tender with my mustang. If I don't start the car for a week, I hook it to the tender

Never really had a problem finding one though.

I also have a Die Hard on my truck, and it has never given me issues, ever. Although they dont' have one that fits my Mustang. Wish they would.

Typically it is something draining the battery. Small things like glove box or courtesy lights are often the culprits. If you have an aftermarket stereo or alarm system, it is also suspect.

The ideal method is to disconnect the negative terminal, and connect a Digital Multimeter (DVM) between the negative terminal on the battery and the negative cable. Set the DVM on a low current scale of 2-5 amps if it doesn't auto-range. Watch the current draw, and then start pulling out fuses. When you see a sudden drop in the current, that circuit is the likely culprit. Note that the computer, radio & clock will draw less than 1/10 amp to keep the settings alive.

If you can’t find the current drain by pulling fuses, then the alternator is suspect or any aftermarket sound or lighting equipment that may be on the car. Disconnect the alternator output power plug, then disconnect any aftermarket sound or lighting equipment while watching the current on the DVM.
