Hello everyone. This is my first post here. I chose this forum after seeing all the nice rides here. I'm going to purchase a Mustang GT but I havent decided on whether to get the new dark candy apple red or trusty black. Has anyone here ordered the candy apple red yet? How do you think a modded one would look? As nice as black? Do you lose alot of performance with a convertible?

I haven't seen the new candyapple red. I bought a torch red 2007. If I had bought a 2008, I would have considered it.
I have a 1966 mustang convertible that is candyapple red and love it. I don't know if the new color is identical or not.
I'd love to see photos.

Honestly, I prefer redfire to candy apple. Candy Apple is a bit drab to me. It's cool looking at dusk, but during the day it's boring. Maybe with some white stripes. I'd have to see that.

Kind of like my black on black on black vert. Not sure about lost performance from being a vert or the fact that mine is an auto. I am told there is a difference but we have not modded ours yet. Wife and I looked at both the red and black for '07 and you see what we ended up with. Lovin' it too..........

Mine is white with candy apple red stripes. The redfire (my previous car's color) is better as a solid ( no offense to the other reds), and more vibrant. Don't think I'd like an all candy apple red with out stripes..Redfire looks good with stripes too.

Torch red is a bit too common IMO. I've seen pics of a dark candy apple metallic hooked up with black with chamois seats and door inserts and it is awesome. It's really out of the ordinary and will set you apart from others. Convertibles are typically slower by a few tenths of a second.

Black looks best, but has to be kept clean because dirt shows. I can't consider black though, where I live, because it's too hot here. If you're not in too hot a clime, and can keep your car clean, go for black.

I love black myself, but...... the wife said in order for me to get a new stang gt, she gets to pick the color, of course I said ok. She picked redfire metalic, it's nice and really shines in the sun. I'm going with gold stripes, should look awesome against the dark red, it's not black, but pretty sweet, I can live with it.

Side by side there is very little difference between Redfire and DCAR. When they aren't side by side it's almost impossible to tell the difference. I'm partial to Redfire but that's because I own one.

You asked about what color to choose from. Well, red, blue, orange...those are actually colors. Black is the absence of color (as is gray and silver)

WARNING!!: If you've never owned Black you might want to re-think it. Black is SWEET...BUT..its a real PITA to keep clean. If you don't care if the car looks like crap when its dirty theres no problem but if your anal like me about a clean car then this could be a problem. I had a black F-150 show truck & after 5 years the paint was hardly there after being washed & waxed so much.

Once you've had black

Black/black/black. Exterior/interior/top. 2007 Conv- wouldn't have it any other way. Get compliments daily on it. Conv slower due to increased weight but if i remember right, there is not as much difference as in the past.

Could go with Alloy. All the allure of black without the maintenance.

Good idea, the alloy looks hot and it hides the dirt well.

I've had a black mustang. It is beautiful when clean but almost impossible to keep clean.
Anyone have photos of candyapple red on a 2008?

Thanks for posting the photos.
I can't say that I really can tell how the color differs from redfire.
I guess I would have to see all of the reds together.
