I finally found out my car was stalling, it was a short in a wire coming out of the distributor. They also replaced the stator. However the car seem sluggish on take off. I wonder if the timing could be off since they had the distributor out working on it?? Any suggestion.

Timing is probably off a few degrees. Set your base timing to about 14 degrees and see how it is.

The PIP connection (grommet) is a known weak point. Glad you got it fixed.

Be on the listen for pinging - some of these cars dont like as much timing as Kurt can run (it's hit or miss). Kurt has a very non-stock combo too.

Even a stock 94-95 stang can benefit from a tune. If you post a location, people can help you find a tuner in your area. Local stangers can help too.

Good luck.

if it's still running slugish try cleaning the maf. the oil from the k&n style filters can deposit on the maf making the computer get the wrong readings. stock timing is 10btdc but it will run better if you advance it more. like hissin said if you go to far it will ping so either back off the timing or run 93 octane

My car actually runs best at 11 degrees of timing. 14 is almost always safe for a stock stang and is a good starting point. They actually run best at about 16 degrees of timing. But like he said, listen for pinging. A little detonation wont' kill the car though. I don't think stock 5.0s make enough power for their size to hurt themselves.
