I'm kinda looking at the same question as shelbyseven. I just want to know if it handles decently going 70mph down the highway. I know it's not going to handle like a supercar, but that's not what I'm looking to do.
My main goal is to free up some space in the engine bay. Need somewhere for those turbos to sit...
I don't know if I should bring this post back to life or not, but I am curious about the handling on the street and highway like hindle and shelbyseven asked about. I am looking for a road racer but I do want it to handle, respond and ride better. The shock towers are already gone, so doing a performance upgrade to the original suspension is out of the question. Thanks.
The outcome will depend on who's buying most of their ad space.
Because of their parent company, they're not going to say one product is better than the other. Instead, they'll give you some feel good spin crap about how they are each better suited for different situations.
Try looking at the April 2004 issue of Mustangs & Fords on the left column of page 89 and in the June 2004 issue of Super Rod magazine on the bottom right column of page 22 and draw your own conclusions. These are the two most current articles that I remember that refer to the conversion. I personally like the conversion for a driver. Let's face it, we don't like how old Mustangs drive, we like the way they look.

I've read all the post on this, Frankly, Heidt's system installs easily, uses disc brakes, Rack & pinion steering. All of which we all need. At a price that's affordable. It's a "No Brainer" If you want to go into a corner so fast that it could possible fail, #1 your nuts, #2 Your abusing your classic. Quit wasting your money on a classic. Buy a full blown race car with a full frame and a roll bar, Stop worring about stuff that should'nt be tested on a 40 yr old classic. Put the Mustang II on your classic and drive like your saving it for you grandkids to see. Otherwise drive it to destruction and stop worring. When you wreck it, it'll just make my ole weak "Mustang II frt" 67 fastback worth just that much more. No then, bum $.75 and get you a cup of coffee.
P.S. Tim's Hot Rod shop in Washington State has Heidt's system on a sale now where it has a power Rack and 11 1/2 inch brakes and the deluxe crossmember for $1695 and NO shipping!!!!! I'll try to find his web site and post it. He ran an ad on EBAy, You might look there. I bought one 2 weeks ago and already have it install and working. I'm waiting on a Cobra rear IRS so I can't tell you how this one performs.
