Mustang II Suspension Issue

I have a Mustang II suspension on a 1965 Coupe. I have noticed my brake pads are against the rotor all the time. This condition exists to the point that I cannot roll the wheel by hand when the vehicle is jacked up. I am a trying to trouble shoot a front wheel wobble and everyone points me to the bearings...but to check the tightness, it states to roll the wheel to see if the retaining nut is too tight....I noticed last night that when I took the calipers off, the wheel rolled just fine, but with them on...NOTHING. I have also noticed the inner race on the bearing is loose....not sure what that is about or if that could cause my issues....but everything on the suspension has less than 150 miles on it....
Any advice would be most appreciated!

The pads ARE supposed to always be in contact with the rotor. The hub should still turn freely with the wheel on it. Without the wheel to add some centrifugal force to it the rotor probably won't make it more than a turn when you spin it. If you're finding it's actually affecting the driving of the car then I would remove the caliper and adjust the piston. After this I would maybe flush the brake fluid and re-bleed the system. Lastly make sure to bed the calipers so they are nice and snug on the rotor.

Bedding is done by doing a series of hard braking from 45 MPH to 0 and 60 MPH to zero or whenever you find the pedal stiffens up enough.

I hear ya on the contact with the rotor. I just thought it was odd that I can't turn the wheel with my hand. I spoke to a friend of mine who had the same set up on his vette. I guess there was a spring behind the pad actuator on the caliper. It kept the pads in contact with the rotor at all times. Everything I have read says I should be able to spin the wheel with my hands. My junk is locked down. Course, my main issue is I have a huge wobble in the passenger's side front wheel. It feels like it is going to shake the steering wheel out of your hand. I thought the wheel was gonna fall off the first time I took it out. I have tried rotating wheels, balancing wheels, checking bearings, etc to no avail. I did notice the inside bearing race was loose. Not sure if that could cause it. I bought a new seal that seems to have tightened up the situation a little. Gonna try that when I get home.

Beautiful car by the way GOLF!! I did the I6 to V-8 conversion as well.....a lot of work...and wouldn't do it without the car having some serious sentimental value....unless you just like punishment :)
It was certainly a challenge!

Had the same issue on mine, was the wrong master cylinder and had the pads stuck against the rotor. So bad so that once I changed it I picked up nearly 3 tenths in the quarter mile. :O

Mine also was very difficult to turn by hand. (Mine is not a MII front end however)

The pads should be touching but the wheel should turn over freely.

Thanks!!! I appreciate it! I looked more closely and my drivers side will turn...but it too wobbles. The bearing race on the inside has slop in it. That is all I can imagine it is. All the other parts are brand new....and so are the bearings....unless of course they are the WRONG bearings :)

Sadly, I can't remember what master cylinder I bought. I was slinging parts at it before I went to the desert. It has four wheel disc brakes. I will have to look at the piston size. It is an after market kit....I checked my driver's front yesterday evening. It free spins as it should...even with the caliper on...but it wobbles just like the other side. I mean if you can see it when it is rolled by hand...it is pretty bad. I had the mustang II kit installed at a shop...I am considering taking the hub and throwing it through their front window :)
But seriously, I have been to every Auto Parts store around...and find myself talking to people about ten years younger than I....and while I am not a genius or anything, they seem to have a lot less knowledge than I. So I can imagine how someone with vast amounts of knowledge feels. But I do know one thing, the inner bearing rattle around in the seal to the point you can almost take it out with the bearing seal installed. I believe that is bad. I called around looking for the correct bearing...but everyone tells me you have to know what MUSTANG II kit it is...because everyone patents their stuff...andd it is all different....
So back to throwing the hub through the window........

Hey Blown....was curious...what you got under the hood? Was wondering...just for giggle what mine would do in a quarter....I know it is hard to compare...these 65s are light though..so that helps :)
Course....right now, mine would be a quick ride...INTO THE WALL.....after about sixty the steering wheel shakes like a three hundred pound girl on a bungee cord.....
I am just sporting a 351W. It has a pretty aggressive cam....and dynos out at about 420. I have a soft locker...and traction bars. It sticks pretty good...even with street tires...but I haven't stood on it too hard either...cause it has less than a 150 miles on the motor....
