Mustang Manual 5Speed Gear Box Oil Change / What Oil to Use.

Hi there have a 87 Mustang Gt with 5 speed Gear Box Manual and wanted to change oil in it and needed to know what oil do i use?

Also do any of you guys think that underdrive pulleys can affect the Charging system on my car?

It takes 2.8 quarts of ATF Dextron Mercon III


Yes, underdrive pulleys can affect charge...esp at idle speed due to lower belt RPM. Look into an OVERDRIVE alt pulley. ASP makes a 1 7/8" pulley

the stock t5 manual trany takes ATF oddly enought... ur local autozone will have exactly what kind u need just ask...

Yes, that will work, that's my setup. It will require you picking up a few different belts and trying them to find the right size, then return the ones you don't need.

Also, I use Mobil1 ATF in my transmission and made a huge difference over the ancient stuff that was in there.

FYI, be careful what questions/answers you get at Autozone. They gave a friend of mine gear dope for his T5.

Good thing I found out before he filled it.
