Mustang PBR Caliper Piston Dustboot Melted

I thought I would provide some more evidence to everyone that the stock brakes on the Mustang Mach 1's and Cobra's are inadequate to get on the track with. Here are some pics of the front left caliper on my Mach 1 after 1 day at Road Atlanta (and it was a very light day). Notice the dustboots around the pistons:

I don't even want to bother with a rebuild as I can see this happening time and time again. Now it's time for me to shop for an upgraded caliper...

the 00R caliper is really good. if i had to do everything over again i would go with Willwood.

should drop a padswap time to under 10 minutes.

hmm strange. the link is to a brembo piston compressor that Le Mans and Aussie V8 teams use to swap pads on pitstops.

That is a slick looking tool but how much does it cost ? I've got this one:

Just leave the old pads in and use that tool to spred them out. Its basically the same idea, I bet that one you linked to works super fast tho.

ya i have that one too. but this one allows you to do them much faster. like under 30 seconds.

the tool is about $225. if you have ever seen really long endurance racing or Aussie V8, watch the pitstops. they change out the pads on some of the stops, this is a lot easier to use.

The next time I go do endurance racing I'll be sure to pick up that Australian tool, until then... my $45 dollar tool is just fine hehe.
