Yah they are on drugs that is 93 cobra money. It will always come down to what some idiot will pay for it. I paid the same price in 2003 as I did in 2013 and got a lot more car this time around, go figure.

He's talking about the $10,990 that a 86 GT with ~8k miles on it is currently going for on eBay. I saw a excellent condition 89 GT the same color scheme as my first fox body (also a 89 black with grey ground effects and a red stripe) and I almost thought about buying it instead of the teal 93 cobra that I did buy, but the guy wanted $12k! His GT did have low miles on it (40k or 80k I don't remember) and some tasteful mods. But that's def the high end of the clean foxes I think. The GT/LX are pretty stable based on condition, but do vary with seasons just like all muscle cars (cheaper in the winter, go up in the spring) So that's something to keep in mind. A fox that needs work can be had for cheap, but one that needs work and not paint is hard to find. The coupes and cobras are climbing I think - I'm really surprised to see the coupes going for 9-11k pretty easily if their paint is excellent.

Does anyone know how many ttops coups gts 4cy etc of each fox was made?

You must not have priced 93 cobras lately, 11 would put you in a midrange car with some of the usual fox problems and an engine that has been beat on. This was a 86 gt with less than 8,000 miles on it, good luck finding another with that few miles, in that condition, for that money.

Ford kept a record of the coupes verts gt and lx's made but I've yet to see a definitive answer on how many were t-tops but the number I hear floating around is in the 800 neighborhood.

Was the gt the most common?

I'm not real sure I've seen a aero fox lx with t tops, pre-87 though it was pretty common.

I guess it depends on the condition of the car and if you've seen it in person and heard it run.
I was at a car show a few weeks ago and there was a 93 notch with 15k miles and a blower otherwise stock. To me it looked like it had been repainted, and for 15k miles i would have expected a straighter car. I "might" pay $6k for it. It was very nice, but something about it made me wonder just what took place in those 15k miles.
On the other hand mine is a '92 with 50k miles. I was offered $20k that night for mine.

There is something to be said about the gut feeling on a car, I would bet that car had something up with it.
