Hello all, My 1989 LX 5.0 factory mustang recently started to somtimes give me trouble on cold starts, and even when it gets warmed up after a while. Then it's fine, for the day, until it the engine gets cold again. I Sometimes will start driving and all will go away after a short time. 10, 15 min. Sometimes, after a little while, I will restart and it's fine. Sometimes it's not. Sometimes the stang starts just fine & is fine & sometimes it is not. Sometimes I smell gas, when this is happening. Seems to happen more often when it's cold out. Thought it might be the IAC it's not. Changed fuel filter, it's not it. After about 10 to 15 min. of the rmps not stable. Stang runs fine. Sometimes after a little while I'll start driving & it will go away. Somtimes it will go away after a short time while I'm idling with my foot on the gas, trying to keep the rpms speady. I'm afraid to just start the car and take off after a min or so. When this happens I have to wait about 10 min or so, if it dosn't go away I'll just take off and it will eventually go away. It will always eventually go away and run fine everytime. Never expierenced anything like this what the %$#%can it be. Pulled codes, got no codes. If something was wrong wouldn't this problem be constant? Is it possesed? Any insight would really be appriciated. Thanks,
Terry

No info about your car's model year, no mods listed. Make it hard to troubleshoot when we don't know what you have.

That's why it is a good idea to use the sig under the user control panel (User CP) option. It allows you to post your car year & mods, which help greatly when troubleshooting things. No, it is not there for us to snoop and see any "Secrets" you have hidden away under the hood. Be a good stangnetter and update you sig for future reference & don't keep us guessing.

Well, it could be many things. First thing I would look for is vacuum leaks.

Also sounds like a failing ignition module. Then again I had the same symptoms with a TPS on a ford van.
