I have a 91 mustang gt I changed the intake to a gt 40 intake and car started stalling. I have changed the pcv valve, map sensor, air control valve, air temperature sensor, and what happenes is that my service engine light turns off and the car feels like it floods out and stalls the only way to make it work again is disconnecting the map sensor. I have tried 3 map sensors and the problem still persists. Funny thing is that the service engine light is on the the car runs the light turns off and the car stalls.

Welcome to the boards. :nice:

You have a BAP [not MAP] sensor on your '91.

Have you pulled codes yet? Do you want to try and test the BAP circuit to see if it's functioning properly?

Thank you for the advice, I have not pulled the codes. I can't figure out how to do it on this car. I had never had a mustang, this is my first one, not a lot of practice with ford fuel enjection systems. I will probably buy the bap sensor. This car sat for 1 year after it got rebuilt don't know how long before that. It has needed a lot of tlc but it is very fast, I just want it to run right. Thank you for all your help.

See the "Surging Idle Checklist for help with all your idle/stall problems.

The quick and easy way to dump the codes is in there too, and all you need to do it is a paper clip! The first two posts contain all the updates to the fixes. At last count there were 24 possible causes and fixes for surging idle/stall problems. I continue to update it as more people post fixes or ask questions.
