Speaking of interiors...

I thought the exact same thing with the actual PRODUCTION model of the Challenger. Dodge totally jacked up the interior and made it look like garbage.

The CONCEPT version of the Challenger looked GREAT!!! But then Dodge turned it around and essentially made it look like a tweaked Charger.

I was disappointed.

I wasn't too sure about the challenger at first, but got an upclose view of several of them on a media pass and public pass this week via the Chicago Auto show. I'm really liking the large size even though it hinders the car quickness wise.

I wouldn't give up my mustang to have it. I'd have to buy and have both in my garage.. I'd have to have the dark charcoal metallic, or the light silver.

WOW... the exterior of the Challenger looks great. There's no denying that.

First off, I am a through and through Mopar kinda guy. I would give some of my manliness for a Hemi 'Cuda. However, as I say that, I have been extremely delighted by my Mustang (I've always liked Mustang as a model, where as the Mopar stuff I liked the Hemi... so gimme a Hemi 'Stang and I'll be good to go! ). But if I had unlimited funds, it'd be the Mustang. No doubt. As much as I love that Challenger, the weight and such puts such a burden on the car so the upgrades won't do as much etc, plus there is sooo much more for the Mustang and that will continue even if the Challenger is around for a few years. Dodge just won't sell enough of them to make a huge aftermarket following for them like there is for the Mustang.


But you know this will happen, imagine the Hennessy Challenger SRT10 as I'm sure he's already put the Viper engine in the car.

I wish Ford would have stuck with the concept's design of the trunk to give us the same tail light treatment!

only time will tell, but will say that a good set of headers for that car wont cost $1200.00. i have owned a ton of mustangs and i still love my car, but i wont turn a blind eye to a car that i will have to get use to seeing the taillights of. sorry but it will take the work of shelby to get us up to the level the the camaro will be from the jump. ford give us push rod power.

If you just want to match the mopar in hp, just buy a 2010 GT as it will have an all aluminum 4 valve per cylinder 425 hp 302 and gets 30 mpg. You will save some money to boot as the new blowpar will be 37 grand before dealer markup. Also the car weighs a round 4100 pounds, so you'll save some weight as well. The new dodge looks really good but it has nothing on the mustang. At 4100 pounds and an automatic, I won't hide to hard from one with my 281. Lets face it, a lot of us are ford guy's and aren't going to change if the others came bathed in gold. For some, the mustang is the flavor of the month and will buy a challenger or camero. Some folks are more than likely chevy or dodge fans and only have a stang because the others have nothing to offer. For them I'm glad that they will be able to get a chevy or dodge pony car. For us diehards, it's ford no matter what. As for ford, if we can get 425 hp and 30 mpg out of a 302, I'm satisfired.

Mind pointing me to the source for that statement? If it's correct, I won't be putting another dime in my '08.

Let's hope the gossip is correct. If the 2010 GT has that motor and they don't hose-up the look of the car, I'll be a the dealer the day it releases.

The link to the article is on post #17. It's probobly just a tamer version of the 5.0 dohc craete motor allthough the article says it's very high tech. By then we should be able to stroke our 3 valves up to a 302 and with a head, cam and intake manifild package should get us close to 450 hp. Sutton and a lot of the aftermarket is really going after the 3 valve, I have no dout in the real near future 400 hp will be common on these motors. FRPP is supost to be developing a set of cams good for 27 hp on unported heads and lets us keep our mid range, more hp on ported heads. Add a 302 stroker with other bolt ons and someone builds us an intake mannie I could see us in the 400 + range all motor. Sutton says he's close to 400 hp with just cams and heads and is shooting for 400 hp at the wheels. At 4100 pounds and no manual tranny we should be knocking on the challengers door with some gears, slicks and our 281. It's reported the challenger is in the 12's, were close to that stock. The challenger isn't as scarey as it once was now that nmore details are surfacing.
