Mustang vs lancer evo 8

The evo from a stop would rip a stock GT. From a roll i say you could pull on them off through the end of first, be a head by a tad by the end of 2nd, then start to get pulled in third. Ive raced aWRX (non STI) and beat it from a 30 roll (dont ask why 30, it just ended up that way). However, STI's would most likly be a closer/even race.

The STI 1/4 mile runs are even with the 03-04 cobra stock. Maybe .5 secs quicker depends on driver according to car and driver magazine. The only thing is how much faster can you make the STI its already maxed out I believe (not totally sure). That engine can only take so much psi with the turbo. Put gears and change pulley size on the cobra as well as a programmer and even drag radials, BAM there you go the STI is smoked with plenty of room to still add mods to an 03-04 cobra if you really need to. Don't get me wrong the STI is one hell of a vehicle but its pretty much done where its at.
 
Yeah the subaru is compared to a Cobra, but it's not. Hotrod has the 1/4 mile of the sti @ 13.29. Muscle Mustangs & FF have the Cobra (convertible) @ 12.77! The same article has the Mach 1 @ 13.156, and a stock GT (automatic) @ 14.095. The GT would have been much better if standard. The STI is pretty fast but it's no Mustang. It's an eysore as well.
 
sti s are only fast if the driver can drive. Had one pull up to me at a red light and I didnt notice him until he redlined the blow off valve. Light turned green and he popped it and dropped it. I waited for him and was waving bye bye to him half way in second, but that is my slowmatic problem.
 
a better comparison would be a Mach 1 vs. EVO, same price range. Mach 1 would walk it from a dead stop or roll. But like Blue Burr said, it's a completely different story in the twisties. EVO is a badazz car.
 
OK to end this **** right now.. once and for all... STOCK FOR STOCK AN 03 COBRA WILL ***** ALL OVER AN STI. From a roll it will be so bad that the passenger in cobra will imit a loud laughter as the cobra proceeds to put buslengths on the STI. From a stop... The sti will pull through first just long enough to make him think he has a chance... by the middle of second, the cobra will be :spot: runnning by the STI and proceed to rape him analy.. :banana:
 
I think it’s a diver’s race. When cars are close in trap speeds and 1/4 times it’s just down to the driver. I also say this because all the evos I've seen at the track didn't do all that fantastic. I know they have potential with a good driver but all I've seen was 13.9 to 14.5, and we are talking stock.

Please tell me your talking about the STI... The cobra and STI are no where close in trap speeds.. ive seen cobras at HRP trap 12.7-12.9@111-114, while the STI are around 13.2-13.5@104-105. Half a second is literally 2 busleangths, and if the STI doesnt do a tranny destroying 7k launch.. its a high 13 sec car.
 
my AWD eclipse was an EVO speedwise, every one i raced was dead even. and at the track the eclispe ran a 12.8@105. that said, i walked all over every GT i raced including a 02gt with headers, full exhaust (magnaflow, no cats) and a cai and pullies. and a few mach 1's. they werent going to catch up either, as when i let out at ~145 i was 2 cars up and pulling. camparing trap speeds only goes so far when comparing highway speed. they still have plenty of highway pickup, but they have low traps because of the traction. as for stock for stock GT v. EVO, i give it to the evo. MACH 1 v. EVO from a roll its a drivers race.

I was talking about the original thread, that being stock gt vs. stock evo. I too seen stock Cobra's run those kind of times as well but with my limited track visits I haven’t seen any evo's under 13.9 Of course I've only seen about 4 evo's run. I don't think they we're launching hard enough. Best 60 foots was I think a 1.9

was this a heavily modded eclipse....because i ran a spyder eclipse gt when i was even more stock than i am now and i spanked that thing badly
