mustang without trim

Anybody ever take off the trim pieces on the exterior of their mustang .. im gonna drop mine off at the body shop this week and was thinking of losing the trim and covering the channel it sits in and paint it ... anyone done this im curious

it will look like ass...the trim extends into the front and back bumpers, which cannot be removed...so it won't sit flush with the body without the trim moldings

You mean the door and fender moldings.

I've seen it done on some cars. Doesn't look too bad.

It has been done, but you have to hack the front and rear off the car and graft on 67-68 parts.


Honestly, I did that with an 84 I had, and spent a year after chunking the mouldings trying to find a deal on some to put it back. As stated above, it leaves the front and rear bumper lines hanging out in space, and replacing the moulding later comes out to 3 or 4 hundred bucks if memory serves.

Ya my car is missin the rear pieces, so my rear bumper cover sticks out about an inch or so on both sides

Hmm yeah I was being serious ... everything is possible but f the moldings don't remove from the bumpers I ain't hacking off ill just re sand the finish off and paint same color as car
