We usually think Camaros or Vettes or ricers are our main rivals....
but really its other Mustangs isnt it ? I mean what happens when you pull
up to a light next to a stang...... both drivers will probably perform preventitive maintainance ( blow out the carbon deposits ) when the light goes green.
Just this morning I was reminded of this as a 98 cobra did a fly by on me.
When ever I come across another stang there just might be a "show of force"

I say its 50/50 with me. Actually seems like the 5.0s always give a rev like they want to race. The other styles just give the courtesy wave which is what I usually do

I couldn't agree with you more!!!!!! I can't even glance at another stang without the driver taking it as a challenge. I'm like dude, I'm just admiring a fellow stang, I'm not trying to race you

Theres a difference between a freindly showdown at the lights and the "im a ricer stuck in a Mustang" douche that every area has.

The guys in my area are mostly the kind that you roll up next to, have a conversation and then "the nod" to signify that when its green you better leave hard, lol. We do have a very few notable domestic ricers though.

exactly^^

most times, i wont even bat an eye. around here, alot of people seem to buy stangs just to have them, and not really notice the obvious yet silent club they have joined. alot of older folks that are likely oblivious, even if i did wave.

you can always tell when someone is trying to better you though, its usually a young punk with the sideways hat (i just want to slap those bastards as it is)

sometimes ill rev as a way to say hi, not a show of force. its car communication, or something....

How does wanting to race someone make u a "domestic ricer"? I dont go looking for races, but usually get picked on by 5.0's & ricers. Havent had too many Camaro's mess with me, but I will agree that it is usually the other Mustangs that want to challenge me. Luckily most of your average Mustang enthusiasts arent aware that the Mach 1 has more horses than the GT's & 5.0's, so I usually find myself in front.

And I like to wear my hat cocked to the side a little, but I wouldnt consider myself a "young punk", unless 29 years old is considered young nowadays...

Its cool...No offense taken, youngin

my pet peeve is these young kids, & also older ones too, that sag there pants so far that there belt is at there knees. And they wear white T shirts so long that they look like dresses. Also these freak emo kids that wear girls pants that look so tight that there jeans look like spandex. & then the gold teeth, or "Grilles" really annoy me...

I've met some pretty cool stang owners around where I live, and some that are just plain abnoxious and stupid. As many people that drive stangs, I think it really just comes down to the driver, not the "niche" if you will.

On occassion I'll give a wave or try to spark conversation at a light, but if the other guy is trying to play it off like he never noticed, I dont even bother trying.

The only cool stang drivers are the ones over 40. They usually wave and chit chat at lights. Every kid wants to race, especially when I've got my kids in the back seat. Got the finger from some punks in a sentra the other day because I wouldn't race. what a bunch of dicks.

I always rev to 5K-5.5K when I pass by a modded stang....thats frendly to me . As far as races go....back when I was light bolton and even cammed, other stangs liked to race....but now I have yet to have another stang really even pay attention to me. Its always everyone else now....and even then it isnt much.

What the problem was, if I seen a fast looking car I would do a quick WOT flyby and sound the BOV right in their rolled down window . That did 2 things. A. It probably scared the crap out of them. B. It scared the crap out of them (turbo mustang)
And if they were driving spirited before this...9 times out of 10 they would back way off and start driving like a grandmaw

^Yea tell me about it....thats the main reason I spent all this money. Im not down with being wasted by any production car that has more than 2 doors and is less than 100K.

Amen!

Not to sound too arrogant or anything but I'm not really worried about any of the SRT8s.

And call me a sadistic cannibal but I would like to put a hurtin' on as many terminators and foxbodies as possible.
