MUSTANGS on the WATERFRONT 7-24-05

STANGGT, bummer on the engine. I had a great time. My friend Pete won a free lunch for two at a Chinese resturant. We pigged out. I lucked out with first place in the Mach/Bullitt class. The dancing to Mustang Sally and YMCA was cool also.

Well pulled the motor out today and got most of it disassembled. My no oil pressure was due to a broken oil pickup. Cracked in half right at the bracket that was welded on about half way down the pickup tube. The bracket holds the pickup down to the girddle via a nut. So far I have pulled the main caps and the bearings look good (just normal wear) as do the crank journals. I will be pulling the rod caps tommorrow. If all looks good I will get the crank polished, new bearings, new pickup and reassemble. I think I dodged a big one here!!!

Well while I have the motor out...its clean up time. Will be removing a "ton" of wires from the FI days, and hiding the rest. I think a tubular K member is in order. Also will be fixing a leaky seal in the trans. Also have had a new set of 4.56 gears sitting in a box for a couple of years now...they are going in. My next race is like Aug 20th so I have some time. Lots of little stuff to do while the motor/trans/rear is out.
BTW, You don't see this parts failure too often and I hope I never see it again!

That's like all the problems I had putting the daughter's 83 together. I just downloaded the camera today. They didn't get any action shots, oh well. I just wanted a baseline anyway. My daughter has been bouncing off the walls about the third place. So it all worked out.
