Got my 01 Dynoed today...not sure what it should have done I think she ended up doing pretty well. She beat out the 95 LT1 car that had headers, catback and gutted cats, chip and intake by like .1. Out of two runs the numbers were:

Run 1: 270.1hp and 280.7 torque

Run 2: 273.2hp and 290.8 torque

I think run 1 was 3rd and run 2 4th but don't hold me to that one.

Once I get pullies, exhaust, intake I will dyno her again with wideband and get her tuned.

Isn't 270rwhp a little low for a stock '01 Cobra

Probably not. I haven't had mine dynoed, but if you were to assume a 15%-17% drivetrain loss, then that would be right around the 320 hp rating. Car & Driver tested two 2001 Cobras in July 01 and both got 272 rwhp and the featured car was running 13.5 seconds @ 105 mph and 0-60mph in 4.8 seconds. The 96-98 Cobra dynos I've seen show around 255-260rwhp and that same assumption of drivetrain loss can apply here too and equates to what Ford rated the 96-98 Cobras at.

If the car is stock that is pretty much right at the average for 99 and 01 cobras. Your next mods coming up should show some good results though.

I love the programmer. I have been an avid GM guy in the past and I have always used the programmers in those with great success. I prefer the ease of installation how user friendly they are. As for my cobra, I definately noticed the gains as soon as I drove it for about a day or so. I emailed hypertech before I bought one and asked what kind of results they are getting and I was told about 15-20hp/20-30ftlb. gains should be expected. As for the chips, they are very good because you can have them customed tuned for your setup but with my current minor bolt ons the programmer was perfect. Also, hypertech can customize a programmer for most setups as well. So all in all I love the programmers and I sell them to most of my customers with no complaints.

Your stock dyno numbers look about right to me also. I had my '01 dyno'ed on a Dynojet a few weeks ago and pulled 305 RWHP and 300 Ft/LBS torque. Running kind of rich at this altitude so after that is corrected, I should gain a few more horses. My mods are in the sig.

Your hp ratings sound right on to me also.

It would be interesting to see how much you got with each mod. I'll be waiting for your results.

15-20 hp gain with the programmer is a very worthwhile gain. Diablo claims up to 15 hp gain for their chip.

Which do most of you prefer, chip or programmer?

Sounds like a worn down LT1. With similar mods I laid down 301rwhp/338rwtq in my 95 LT1.

I'd say your dyno numbers are on par with most.
