The idiot that had my 87 stang before me actually SPRAY-PAINTED the interior panels and carpet and seats and headliner...purty much everything. I really want to get that light blue crap outa there. But, I can't afford to order all new parts in black, which is the desired color. Is there any way to dye the existing panels and dash??

I know where I can get a new black dash, I think, so that might be taken care of, but, as for the rest of it, it is half blue, half grey, really ugly. If anybody has any suggestions on where I can get the whole interior for a stang in black, lemme know.

Did they even make 87 stang's interior in black?? I really dunno....I'm just trying to get mine black now...

The carpet and seats are taken care of, I'mma recover the seats in black leather and have new carpet laid, but I am still left with all that chipping, peeling sh** on my panels and dash. Help!!

VHT Vinyl Dye.

Its a spray paint but its designed specificly for your purpose. It comes to like 8$ a can around here and takes a fair number of them to get the job done but its EXCELLENT stuff. Ive used it on several interiors over the past couple years and to date none of them has had a problem. One interior I did is in a car used to deliver pizza, so you can imagine the abuse and its held strong for over a year now.

Of course to use it you'll need to strip the old spray painted crap off the peices you want to paint.

If you want detailed preperation, painting and finishing info (or if anyone does for that matter) hit me up in a PM and I'll send it to ya.

Welcome!!

I change mine from red to Black/Gray. I used the interior paint and vinyl dyes from www.50resto.com At 10- 11.00 a can, its a little more expensive than the VHT but I was very pleased with the results. as MusPuppis said, prep is the key to good results. As far a replacing some of your parts, the classified section here and at www.corral.net as well as Ebay all have some great deals. Good luck

I'm currently converting my gray/black interior to all black. I'm using the stufff rom 5.0rest also and am really pleased with the result thus far. Just be sure to really clean the part before you paint it.
