My 96 GT "248A"

Thanks for the lesson in final drive ratios and engine rpm

'87-93 225 hp @ 4200 RPM; 300 lb-ft @ 3200 RPM
'94-95 215 HP @ 4,200 rpm; 285 ft lb @ 3,400 rpm
'96-97 215 HP @ 4,400 rpm; 285 ft lb @ 3,500 rpm
'98 225 HP @ 4,750 rpm; 290 ft lb @ 3,500 rpm
'99+ 260 HP @ 5,250 rpm; 302 ft lb @ 4,000 rpm

Plus it seems that the more one is modified the higher the HP and TQ rpm tend to be

Generally, a pushrod motor will produce a higher TQ than HP rating, while a modular tends to have either a lower TQ than HP or they both are about equal.

I can go on and explain/post more info/dyno sheets/links/etc but I'm not going to trash this thread with all that.

LOL

Yeah 100 rpm wouldn't typically make any noticable difference, but these figures are where the "peak" torque is. What's more important is the whole torque curve, which you can't tell by just the peak spec rating, you have to look at a dyno sheet.

It's known that more cubes produces more torque. A 331 or 347 has more torque throughout the range as compared to a 302. A 4.6 is 281 c.i. It will have less torque throughout the entire rpm range

Yeah, I guess this is a pointless argument. It's clear the differences are negligible, and the peak rpms vary depending on where you get your info. Ford obviously made sure the 4.6 had the exact same numbers the 5.0 had in order to get enthusiastic customers. I think the 4.6 has a bad reputation more because of the throttle response than that actual torque though.

That and because it is a smoother running motor. It doesn't "feel" the same when you floor it, but it's still moving out. Kind of like driving a big car when used to a smaller car. It doesn't feel like you are going as fast but you are.

It feels about the same to me. Well from what I remember from driving mine so long ago. Rich I'm gonna try. It needs some touch ups before then. When I washed it the other day some more paint issues showed up. Also need to clean the bay up. I'd love to get my hands on some of the deep purple paint and paint some underhood stuff that color

It's Deep Violet and is paint code JS (which you probably already know if you looked at the build tag on the door jam).

I'm sure you could find some Duplicolor somewhere or maybe the Ford Parts counter can get you a can of touchup, or have some mixed up at an autobody shop.
