Underneath my car today and noticed my aluminum driveshaft has some heavy gouging going on in the center of it. I thought it was pretty weird because it already ate my e-brake cable bracket (the one that goes into the handle and holds the right and left cables) and I have no e-brake anymore. I looked up there and it's not touching anything on the tunnel at all. Theres another bracket there too where the right and left e-brake cables run back and it looks like it was hitting there but it is completely away from it. I'm thinking that it's happening when I go over speed bumps and stuff? I guess I need a pinion snubber? And if the center of the driveshaft has a pretty deep groove in it can it throw off the balance of it? Thanks guys

You are not the first one to notice this. It also can happen if you have gravitationally-challenged friends in the back of the car.

I had the same thing happen to me at the track when my rear control arm broke on me. Every launch/takeoff from a stoplight would force the driveshaft upward into the tunnel creating a groove gouged in the driveshaft.
