Just sitting her trying to make sence of it, he was apparently trying to steal the wiring under the house, for the copper, but the house still had electricity, damn, it sucks, if I knew he was hurting for money like that I would have helped him out how ever I could have, sorry for posting this, but I'm drunk and just found out he is dead about 30 minutes ago and don't know what to do, I want to call his family but it is 4 in the morning, figure I will wait until around 6 or so. Gonna be a long day tommorrow?:notnice: The way I figured it out is my brother is a jailer. working to become a cop, so he hears stuff way before anyone else. I don't even know what to do, the cops prolly won't even let his parents know untlil later in the day, and thats ****ed up, I tryed calling but they have a phone that you have to buy minutes for and they don't have any. Sorry, but I have known this guy since I was about 8 years old and I am 24 now so it is kind of hard.
The crazy part of it is that the house he was stealing the copper from is literally about an eighth of a mile down my road and there is only one house in between us, I drove by the house at about 3:00 o'clock this afternoon and seen his car there, I just figured he broke down and left the car there, that is until about an hour ago when my brother called and said he was dead underneith the house. I drove by him at least 4 times and didn't know it. Just sucks to know someone else had to find his body under there when I seen his car there over 12 hours ago. It is so hard to lose a freind, and to find out the way I did just sucks, sorry for the long ass post, I'm just tore the hell up and don't know what to do. I almost just want to drive over to his parents house right now and tell them, but I dont know. I don't want to wake them up at 4 in the morning and tell them their son is dead, I don't know what in the hell to do.........

Thanks, I was gonna wait until 6 or so in the morning to tell his parents, but his parents just called me and told me, so atleast I didn't have to tell them. Still sucks though, bad part is that his mom was so tore up about it that she wouldn't go identify his body and his step dad of 4 years had to, I feel so bad for his mom, I hate when freinds or family dies, In the past 3 years I have lost my whole family on my dads side, and thats his parents, and 4 uncles and 3 aunts. It sucks but I have truthfully been to a funeral about every 3 months for the past 3 years?

Me too, I don't have to start going to sleep early until tommorrow, I just got a new job at an upholstery shop and I will be working from 6am to 2pm, I think I'm gonna like those hours:nice:

I've been on a 2 1/2 month lay off with pay (plant closed) and my sleep schedule is destroyed. I've never really been without a job and i'm not burning up any energy, so i can't fall asleep. Then when i'm tired and try to sleep i stress over everything and can't clear my mind enough to sleep. Once i finally fall asleep it's usually 5 in the morning and then i sleep until 2 in the afternoon, which only makes it harder to fall asleep at a decent time. It's a viscous cycle.

Today i'm gonna say F'it and just stay up and hit the u-pull-it and wear myself out looking for parts all day. Hopefully by 9-10 tonight i'll be ready to pass out and *maybe* wake up in the morning and get back on a human schedule.

Oh, I've been waking up at 2 in the afternoon for about 4 or 5 months now so I know what you mean, hopefully that will change now that I have a good job.

Sorry for your loss man. It really sucks to lose somebody close to you, especially at a young age. It was hard when I lost my Grandpa to cancer, but he lived a great life and I was lucky to get 22-1/2 years out of him. I'm 25 now, and it still seems like yesterday.

Just be there for his family when you can! :flag:

death by copper theft is unfortunately becoming an all to common occurance.

Yup. Stealing copper is on the increase. There is big money in it.

When i used to work as an electrician, we used to have to lock up all our copper and pay security to watch the jobsite because people would walk into the roughed out house and rip out all the copper wiring and bring it in for scrap. Once they even stole $10K worth of copper gutters of a building under rehab i was working on.

sux that he died but he shouldnt have been stealing peoples wires.

My original comment that I decided not to post was along the same lines.

Seriously, If he was stealing copper, he would have ended up in jail or prison when caught. They are really cracking down on this.
I dont know which would be worse. A long Jail/prison sentence.
Or Quick ZAP and lights out. I bet he never knew what happened.

Again Im sorry for your loss and I am not trying to stir crap up. It is sad he died.

Had he not been stealing, Im sure there would be more compassion shown for him.

I know several people here whose houses were gutted of all the wiring b/c of this and I have seen some really gruesome photos from ppl in new orleans taking advantage of all the construction there. not to hijack and I feel bad for the OP or anyone that has lost a friend or loved one, but copper theft is ridiculous. I am an electrical engineer and half the incidents I hear of where someone was injured/killed they went in with tin snips from wal mart or something like that which had ZERO insulation on it.
