Not in this case. There will be a few people he works with who will also be getting vehicles. The directive from the higher-up's is to get top of the line models with every option available. Two reaons:
They want to show off these vehicles by having them on the roads.
and
They will have a higher residual value when they get sold or go to auction after 6-12 months
His personal vehicle is a loaded King Ranch F150 quad cab, also an ex-company car.
dude I know had one of those king ranch F-150s. Finest pickup I ever saw. But he has a habit of buying a new truck every year so he picked up an 04 F-150. Oh well, those are pretty nice.

If he does get one, it'll be after job one. In which case, there will be plenty of them getting out there. An extra hundred or so for Ford employees isn't gunna do diddly for exposure. Spreading a couple hundred out across the media, that will do something. So, having said that, I think your first reason for him getting it is

Maybe he will get one. If he does, I'm sure to be jealous. A free Stang is definately something to covet. I just don't buy those reasons. At least, not without some explaination.

Their reasoning, not mine. Ford is coming out with a lot of completely new or revised vehicles over the next year. There's also an element of "Hey, that's a new stang, or F150. Can I take a look?" In that case, it's good to show off the model that has the premium interior, or DVD player, or whatever.
Also, A lot of his job requires driving to dealerships in central and northern (canadian provence will remain nameless). In some cases, at least to begin with, they might only have a handful of these cars, if any at all.

This is something they have found out over time. Premium, highly optioned vehicles are more sought after at auction than strippers. They also take less of a loss on them.
He said he will get his in January, to drive for 6 months.
