I Have a 95 Mustang that had a 94 GT 5.0 swapped in, and the auto transmission
that was at least beefed up on it's rebuild last year. It does have posi, although I'm not sure what gears. I'm assuming stock on how it drives, planning on doing the driveshaft/ wheel test when I get home.
Car runs good, but has a little white smoke at idle, and can puff a good cloud at WOT which also creates a rattle noise that during normal driving never happens. I'm crossing my fingers in hopeing the bottom end is in good shape, as I don't plan on digging that deep with this build.
My build is currently planned on staying around $3k not including the tune...
Trickflow H/C/I 350hp kit from summit racing: $2,400
30lb Fuel Inectors $240
70MM TFS Throttle Body $150
255lph Fuel Pump $130
TFS Lifters (unsure of type) $120?
BBK Headers $150
Now my car is stock as far as I know aside from cold air intake, off road x-pipe, and series 40 exhaust. My brother in law convinced me to do this build, since he had done it to his foxbody and said it made his car pretty snotty. I've read up a lot on it, but am having trouble finding tips on certain things. He told me he'd be able to do this swap with me in one weekend, and to just buy all the parts. The biggest job I've ever done on a car is a valve adjustment on my M3. So Cams/ head etc is new to me, I want to make sure I have everything covered when I buy everything for my build.
My biggest question is I was told to get new lifters when doing the H/C/I swap in. What would you suggest as far as type, brand, and why? Other then that any tips while doing this build... I'm new to the whole 302 game, or even American engines in general. Should I replace anything else while having the head off, while staying reasonable with the build?
