A few months ago I noticed there is a whine/whistle coming out of the car when i accelerate... I cant find where its coming from. At first it sounded like it came from the engine, now it seems like its coming from underneath the car...
Earlier this week i crawled under the car to tighten up the catback, because one of my tailpipes got loose, and i noticed both pipes have small leaks,,,, Do you guys think that might be causing the whine/whistle? Where can i get some GOOD friggin exhaust clamps, because the ones magnaflow provides ... SUCK.

I think the dealership messed up the H-pipe to header connection when they changed my throwout bearing, maybe thats whats causing the sound.

Can someone help me out here? the whine is really starting to worry me. :(

No its not a hiss,,,, its actually a whistle... like the one you would hear if you had your house window open a little bit on some windy day... (hah i know i know lame example  )

Dont have money for a new midpipe just yet...

Can anyone chime in? Any ideas?
Well I have the idea that my car is doing it too (for a little bit now), at first I chalked it up to the near to below 0 temps in the morning but today it was in the 40-50 range and it still is doing it. It almost sounds like a blower whine right around 2300 RPM if you rev it up or blip the throttle. It will happen on the way up through that RMP or idleing back down. I'm going to have Ford look at it under warrenty when its in for oil change. (They will probably be unable to reproduce the sound until the engine cools down). I would think it would be a belt/pulley problem but I'm not expert on it. If someone else would chime in I'm kinda interested too however.

My car 02 GT 5 Speed w/ 3.73's all the rest is stock. 17000 miles.

I did notice it after I put on a gatorback belt on my car,,,, I dunno if it did it RIGHT after I put it on though.

Damn it... well at least I know i'm not the only one with this annoying whine. Thanx for making me feel a bit better. When are you going in to the dealer? my warranty expired, so if you find out can you please let me know what they told you?

Definitely the belt. I noticed this sound too when I put mine on.

I just got my exhaust leak fixed3 days back. Now I notice a whisteling squeling sound. But only in reverse. Sounds to me like it's comming from the rear brakes but who knows. I'm going to take it soon to the dealer to have it checked out.

Just and update on my problems with the "supercharger whine". They said the idler pulley was bad as well was the water pump. Kinda had that thought, second time that the the water pump has gone bad however....

I would imagine the water pump has somethign to do with the cooling system think its alright to drive down to Florida from PA (leaving Friday)as the parts probably won't be in by then?

i had an annoying whine for a while too. i also had my exhaust checked but it was fine. the whine would get louder as the rpms went up. turns out the tensioner pulley was bad. cost me 15 bucks for a new one at o'rileys and took about 45 minutes to swap out. might want to check it out.

Back from the grave.

My car also has this S/C whine but my car isn't blown. It's audible pretty much all the time with the A/C on or off, and it whines no matter what the temp. is. My engine is bone stock with 6800 miles so it can't be the tensioner...wtf?

Try turning off your CD player, power all the way off. For some reason mine makes a blower-like whine through the speakers. I swore it was coming from the engine bay, then under the car but it was the speakers. Let me know if that helps.

It might be in the speakers, but that was not the case in my car.
The bearing in the alternator was going bad, and thats what caused the whine/whistle.
I changed my alternator, and it went away.
