When its hot outside my car runs like crap. In town (stop and go driving) when its hot outside (90 or above) my car will run like crap. It will die in parking lots when i try to start it after driving it. I have to keep the RPM's up just to keep it from dying. When i finally do get it to take off on the road, it'll studder like crazy, the RPM's wont get over 1000 and it'll act real crazy till it finally just takes off and drives like normal. I think its getting too hot. It only does it when its hot outside, and the temp. gauge reads on the "M".

Anybody have any ideas?

Matt, have you yanked codes yet? You can have them stored without tripping a CEL (esp common for intermittant issues like you are seeing).

Bud, you gotta get a real gauge or run a tuner to monitor real temps.

Wont say more till more info is posted (I have a laundry list).

Good luck bud. Bump.

Yea its really just shooting in the dark...i will throw out your ECT sensor at the end of the heater tubes. Has that ever been replaced? Seems like that may be faulty if it gets worse/better with temp. I have no idea though.

Good luck bro

A bad ECT can do alot of wierd things. You'll just have to get codes and/or get someone with a diagnostic tool to read all your sensors. Usually with a problem like that, you will find a sensor going crazy.

Dare I say the mass air is fubared, if it's causing a lean condition it may cause you to run hotter and would explain the studdering and the RPM's not wanting to move. .02

Only code i got when i pulled them last was something about a fuel pump relay fault. Other than that all clean. All my sensors are factory as far as i know. I'm willing to replace anything to get this running right. Thanks guys.

UPDATE: i put a 180* thermostat in, and yes the car seems to run cooler, but it STILL does the same thing...stalling ect.

Should i look into replaceing the MAF and ECT? Let me know, i really want to get this fixed.

Try to find someone with a stock MAF and swap it onto yours and see if it changes anything I guess

When exactly WAS the last time you pulled the codes? If it's been even more than a couple days, it's time to do it again. Sometimes these things take a while to show up, sometimes it's a matter of a couple days.

And I like to write down codes, change a part of two, then disco the battery and reset the KAM. Then let it puke new codes. Otherwise, antiquated codes can hang around.

Good luck.

I have a stock MAF you can use to check it. I am about 2.5 hours from you, I believe you said.

i might take you up on that. I talked to superdust and he said he's haveing the EXACT same problem, so its gonna be something simple. He's thinking its the radiator...because its getting soo hot. I'm not sure, i'm gonna pull the codes again tomrrow and see.
