i put the top down the other day and when i tryed to put it back up it wouldn't do anything ... no noise at all ..... so i order a new switch button thinking it would solve the problem .... the next 4 days i waited for part to come in and installed the switch top went back up....

now i tryed to put it back down , nothing happens , no noise or anything!

the pump motor is strong , and i did replace the switch.

What sensor can it be ?

this is on my 1994 mustang GT convertible ...

If the brake light on the dash is not lit with the ebrake engaged, the top will not operate. I'd bet it's your ebrake switch inside the center console.

I know you said you just got a new switch, but I would take it off and use a jumper wire to see if that makes it work. If nothing, then go back to your top motor and see if you're getting power back there.

click on link

http://www.partsamerica.com/Product...IE&mfrpartnumber=RL36621&parttype=844&ptset=A

are you getting power to the relay and if you are is the relay clicking when switch is engaged.even if its clicking the internal contacts could be corroded check the voltage between relay and the motor.

PSU is thinking like I do. I would go back to the relays and find the up relay. Have an assistant hold the button to raise the top and put your meter on the wires and note the values. You should have 3 wires with power and one ground. If you are missing power wires, have your assistant let off the switch and note the values again. This can help verify if you have power to the relay coil or common terminal.

Good luck.

I had the same problem. Went the electrical route and replaced the switch, verified the e-brake safety switch was working but still an intermittent no go on the top motor.

I looked at replacing the motor but I can't see that they are worth $250.00+ so I pulled the front cover off the motor and the remnants of the motor brushes fell into my hand. They are small pieces of rectangular bar stock (not what you may think of when you think of brushes) that wear down over time.

Took the motor to a local electrical place that specializes in small electric motors, gave the man $10.00 and my top has not failed since.

Check the brushes! When they get to the end they flip in their mount and cause the motor to fail.

It's great to get relays but I wouldnt expect them to fix anything. FWIW, if your top worked in one direction, one could probably swap the two relays (so the known good one is on the problematic direction) and see if it fixes it - if not, the relay is not the issue.

Good luck.

well if you don't hear ANY of them clicking over, you have a power issue b/c you said 1 should work. check the voltages on the input and output sides of the relays BEFORE you buy more. There's nothing more dissapointing than replacing a part and it still not work. the guess and check method sucks.

besides, relays are *supposed to last like 1M+ switches unless the coil was overloaded or cracked, but still.

listen to HISSEN and PSU, they know their stuff man

I never have luck like that. Glad to hear you got it, but keep an eye on things - relays dont get black goo on them for nothing.
