My DC Controller go bye bye :(

So I wanted to drive the 90 today for the first time this year.... I took the battery off the trickle charger, hook it back up to the car, took it for a ride, and it started overheating. Welp, the controllers not working. I bypassed the controller and gave the fan 12 volts, and it started right up. Anyone know of the wait time for these? Is it still 2-3 weeks or whatever? It's not like it's a DD, but I got a hair up my ass to drive it and now I can't

Nick, did you do any diagnostics (check the fusible link, ensure the probe is touching the radiator fins nicely, check wires for animal damage, etc)?

That'd be where I start.

Sure hope it's not the controller after all the crap you went through to get the silly thing. LOL

Got it all fixed up! Brian came though with some great tech! Here's what fixed my problem:

Brain emailed me and said


"It's probably something minor, usually if it doesn't turn on, it's
because the yellow ignition wire isn't connected. It'll run without it
until the 16 pin connector gets enough dirt and moisture in it that it
shuts the controller off. With it connected, and a good connection for
the power input, pin 1 should have 5V without the sensor connected and
pin 15 should have 12V on it"

He hit it right on the head! I never installed the "ignition on" wire because I liked how it would keep cooling when the car was turned off, until it got below the thresh hold. I installed the wire to an ignition on, and bam! Turned right on when it should. Thanks Brian!!!

Nick, if that's the same wire I'm thinking of, you should be able to connect it to battery power (so it continues to cool the car off after you shut it down).

Glad to hear it was an easy fix.
