The best upgrade for the buck on these cars is gears. 4.10's would be your best bet. There aren't a whole lot of low dollar mods for dohc Cobras. Cold air, pullies and exhaust are pretty much it. That said, the 32 valve cars respond very well to forced induction if you're able to spend the money.

i thought about a gear, but how much of a difference does the 4.10 have over stock or say a 3.73, and with these gears what kind of rpm range will i be looking at say going about 60-70mph

You won't really notice the 3.73's verse 4.10's or 4.30's. They make you think you gained 50hp. 4.10's in 5th gear at 80 mph will only be turning 3,000 rpms so that isn't much. 4v's love to rev and love gear.

The next mod I would get is a shifter. The factory one is sloppy and after market ones are designed for better shifts and they have shifter stops to protect you from over shifting which damages the shift forks.

After that I would do Long tube headers and a JLT. I know you have an exhaust already, but LT's really wake up the low end and midrange on our cars.

Then you can worry about suspension mods being you do have an IRS for the rear and that is sloppy. I know there are some companies that make IRS braces and better bushings to help combat wheel hop. Also a good set of weld on subframe connectors are a must.

Hope this helps.

Basics first: Check the iac, change the fuel filter, clean the maf, put in an oil air separator, make sure you have the correct kind of oil filter on there. Then I would seafoam
and do gears + handling mods.

If you lower the car, you will need to do mods to avoid bumpsteer. Some people will say it's not necessary, but I have a car dropped 1.5" and without the extra mods, every single raised bump is going to send the car every which way.

You also have a vert, so I would do full length subframes, engine brace and rear brace as well. With gear and stock rear setup you're going to get a ton of wheel hop. A TON.
Control arms are going to be needed.

It's always fun to do the performance mods. They add fun. The suspension mods keep
keep you on the road and alive, so while not so fun, it's more important imho.

I would go with a more aggressive gear than 4.10 though. My car has 4.30's if you want to check the vid out. Any more than that and you have to deal with vibration.
