Left her overnight in the lot that I work, came into work today.. and it was gone.
Imagine my expression. Called the state police, and they informed me that it had been towed.

Ok, it had a flat tire. (didnt have a tire iron) but damn.. whats up with that????

Now, it sits in a lot.. in a relativly BAD side of town.

What do you guys think I should do? Im gonna be looking for damage when I pick up the car.. obviously. But other than that, im lost.

Is the person that calls for the tow required to give a name? I would really like to find this person, so I can give them a piece of my mind.

Anyway, sorry to blow of steam on you guys.. but I am kinda ticked right now.

Did you company have it towed? Were there signs posted in the lot about cars left over night?

Look for the damage on the radiator support. My car had been towed before I bought it and I had to have it replaced at a cost of $669 + tax before I could put my intercooler on. It really messed things up.

That would be dicked if your company did that to you, but if there are no signs, then they have no right to tow you.

I'm not sure about other states but the property owner/manager Is the only one who can have it towed off of their property. If someone calls in and has your car towed but they don't have permission to do so I think the person who calls has to pay for it.

If you are going to give anyone a piece of your mind get your car back first.

I had a fairly similar situation where I lived a few years back... I got back from work and my car was gone, towed to a really bastardly towing yard.
In minnesota, and I'm not sure where else this might apply, only the property owners, or authorized agents of the property owners, are allowed to call for a tow if a car is parked on private property. If you were parked on the street next to private property with a flat tire, however, then the police could order a tow. In the case of towing from private property, we (in minnesota) do require a legible signature on the form ordering the tow. Ask for that from the towing company if it applies.
***check the towing / impoundment regulations for your municipality***
I hate lawyers at least as much as the average joe, but I hate towing companies even more...

I'm with everyone else here. Check for signs about towing and make sure you get your car back before you go off on anyone.

Sorry to hear that happened to ya man.

Well, I got the car back today.

All is well with the car. No damage at all that I could see.

I asked how they pulled it, and they said it was placed on a flatbed... so thats good.

Another good thing, I was only charged 60 bones for the deal.
I also got the name of the person that called for the tow, so im going to have a little chat with her.

The tow operator actually apologized to be for towing my car. I had nothing against him, he was just doing his job, and I told him not to worry about it.

Im just happy that the car is ok, and I wasnt charged out the butt to get it back.

Anyway, a somewhat happy ending.

I'll let you know if I find the lady that called. (I dont know who she is) and what becomes of the conversation.

Thanks for the input guys.

Wait for her to go into work and call and get her car towed.
