What the hell!! I have 2 mechanical gauges in the A-pillar that i just finished installing. water temp and oil press and they both make this rattle noise. This is so annoying, makes my car sound like it will fall apart. Whats going on!?

P.S the water temp gauge wasnt making any noise until i installed the oil press gauge today. ugghh

Did you use copper line with the OP gauge? It can chatter.

That or try wrapping it with electrical tape.

I sheath mine with rubber vacuum line. But you could also just pick a couple points that are making contact and use whatever you have on hand to quiet it up.

Good luck.

I used some vacuum line like JT and just changed a few of the bends under the dash and it didn't make it anymore.

Ok guys, i put my ear to the gauge and it seems to rattle from inside the gauge. Have you guys had any problem like this? The gauges work fine so we cant assume they are broken and something is hanging around in there.

I might stuff the A pillar molding with foam or something. Grr...

I have not had this happen. Is there a chance that the noise is elsewhere and is reverberating to the gauge?

Maybe Kevin will have an idea. Good luck.

Hissin,

I turned the car on and went down under the dash, played with the copper line and noticed that in some positions the rattle is reduced. So i zip tied the sh1t out of the copper line, tied it to the water gauge line to keep it stiff. This seems to work and the noise has been almost eliminated.

Thanks for all the help.

Glad to hear you got it. I have not had to fart around with one that much. But it sounds like you and Kevin both did the very same idea with some bending, and in your case securing (sounds better than zip tying). So thanks go to Kevin.

Now go enjoy!
