I absolutly love my t-bird, but I have come apon a delema. I enjoy it as a street car but love to dragrace and want to do it in a 2.3l powerd car, so here I have come up with a plan. I have a friend that has an ugly little white 90 coupe, it is al beat up. But that makes it perfect for me, if it was nice I would have a hard time taring it down to make a racecar. This one has no intior and a blown motor and a bad trans. Perfect to stip and race. So here is my plan. Fiberglass front clip, doors and trunk lid, plastic windows(exept the front) sheetmetal intake, and incar water to air inercooler, fully lighted and removed of all nonesential gadgets. It will be powered by the 2.3t w/holset I have in a storage unit collecting dust. this will be a track only car so it wont have to pass any emition tests, this my keep me from molesting my t-bird yet alowing me to flog a 2.3 on the track so does this sound like a solid goal?

Well a pinto is lighter so, you have the opportunity to go faster for less money!

Very true. You wont be mocked by society if you show up in a stang. Pinto is another story.

I hate you, man. Not really, but I want to do a 2.3T Pinto drag car also. I already have two road racers.....

If you really want to do the 2.3T game, put one in the Pinto and sell the 351W to someone into V8s. A built 351W will make a Pinto downright scary, though.

I won't have free access to a machine shop for at least another month, so the mechanical end is on the back burner. Right now I'm still trying to sort out the EFI and scratch built electronic ignition/2-step.

I think the car has been modified to much to easaly take the 2.3l back so Im thinking single turbo 302 or 351. I want it to stay under the stock hood Its sitting on 4 flat tires so I cant get it home yet. I am getting my wife a maveric soon so I may have to fight her for the 351

Get a turbo 5.0 put it in there, and blow away that 351, especially at 20 or more pounds of glorious boost. Put a cobra intake in there to keep the hood stock, and some slicks, two step ignition. In that body I would say 9's are no prob. with a turbo 5.0. Sounds like fun!
