I just took the stang out and realized how crappy it runs...........i shift into second in hopes to feaal torque and it seems like im shifting gears on a tractor, there is a gear to engage but no road glory........

I hope its these 2.97's and lack of catback are killing me....or maybe a miss....the heads are coming off so we will see what happens might end up seeing something i don't like and putting it all together and selling her for a maf factory 5speed.....(or a factory five speed period...) then just slap my gt40 bolt ons on there and be done.......
i still think something is wrong with my clutch.....
any words of advice......

The factory speed density cars are actually faster than the mass air cars, and the gears are killing you.

the mass air 5.0's came stock with more horsepower, how are speed density faster?

huh? i think you got that backwards buddy, all stangs 87-92 SD and MAF were rated 225hp and 300tq. in 93 they were rated at 205hp and 275tq, which is actually more accurate for all the years 89 1/2 and newer due to multiple changes ford made to the cars throughout the years, starting when MAF was introduced. and NO the power loss wasn't totally because of the addition of the MAF system, other changes such as the addition of the air silencer, slight changes in cam profile, and minor exhaust revisions amongst a few other things helped with the power loss. the biggest reason for the re-rating in 93, though, was because of the changes ford made in their testing procedures.

wow...i just did some reading and found out...that was a real suprise, i found it a little wierd that they rated the hp lower on the newer cars and also that the sd were faster...it just doesnt sound right but i guess it is

no not necessarily but they were RATED the same until 93. and even at that, not all mustangs were built the same, even from the factory. i'm sure you've ran across a couple of those "freak" stock mustangs that just run balls to the wall. i've seen mostly stock SD cars with nothing but gears, 2.5" midpipe and mufflers break upper/mid 13's all day. on the flip side, i watched my buddy with a 90 gt with bigger maf sensor, throttle body, FULL exhaust, gears, pulleys and an e fan not even break 14.0. i'm not trying to start an arguement or debate, i'm just going off what i have seen/experienced and read

so then im guessing that the reason everyone switches to mas air is because its easier to tune for mods?

Yes, and boost applications its easier to fine tune. MAF can be more adaptive than MAP. But a MAP system done right is a hard combo to beat
