after almost 18 months of running a motor that was driven through a water puddle and water sucked into the intake and screwing up the valves, She died this afternoon. I had ordered a Trick flow kit with heads, cam, intake, etc. I had been casually looking at 331 and 347 stroker shortblocks and it seems now that I will be going with a 347. WHat do you guys with 347's have as far as heads? I was just going to use the trick flow kit, but I have an SVO upper and lower intake, and everyone I talked to seemd to like the AFR heads better. Will my SVO flow enough to feed a 347 or should i get another one, GT 40,Trick flow? I'm in no rush to put this together, as a matter of fact I was was taking the car on her final drive of the fall before parking it when hell broke loose and so did the timing chain. ANY ideas are welcome Thanks!

That sounds like an insurance claim to me. You suffered a lost that should be covered under the comprehensive part of your auto insurance.

forged 331 you said you orderd the trick flow kit, why not use the intake that comes with that? should work fine with the 331, maybe just get some port work done

Well i might look into a 331 too. I just mentioned 347 cause I found a nice on on Ebay. I hear a lot of good things about CHP 331 and 347's. Timne to shop for a new motor and maybe call insurance company

347 stroker

well first off u don't have an insurance claim. comprehensive insurance does not cover engine failure.

I saw a stock 302 with box stock AFR 185 heads, X cam, edelbrock performer intake, shorty headers, 30 lb injectors and no cats hit 311rwhp and 316rwtq. so r pretty good #'s.

See my sig, I had a 347 stroker that hit 372rwhp and 368rwtq with the wrong cam. I had a mom and pop shop do the 347 build and ended up having 4 cracked oil control rings, all the end gaps of the rings were wrong, cam bearings were worn, Isky cam was worn and scarred, SVO roller lifters were frozen, bad main bearings, #3 and #4 clinders on the block were cracked near the head studs.

Stay away from CHP, DSS, FPS, X2C shortblocks. Do a search on the forums and see for yourself.

Here's what I would do for a NA 331 stroker. If ur going to boost u will need a R302 block.

302 roller block, decked, aligned, bored .030 over, magnafluxed and blueprinted to specs
Scat 4340 profiled 3.25 crank
Scat 4340 H-beam rods 5.4 rods
JE 10.3 comp flat top pistons (rotating assembly good to 1000hp)
zero balanced rotating assembly
Clevite H-series main and H-series rod bearings
Hellfire ring set
Powerbond ZB damper
SVO billet steel ZB flywheel
Manley 4130 chrome moly pushrods
Melling SP, HV oil pump and pickup
Cloyes true double roller timing chain 9 way adjustable
ARP internal bolts and studs
SVO roller lifters
Canton 7 qt oil pan
Comp cam 282HR or FTI custom grind - .565/.575 lift, 230/240 dur., 112LC
AFR 205 heads, 7/16 stud mount or TFS Hi-Port stage 2 heads, 7/16 stud
Comp Cam Pro Magnum RR 1.6
Edelbrock Victor intake port matched to 1262 gasket
RCI custom LT ceramic coated 1 3/4" stepped to 1 7/8" w/ 3" collectors
30lb injectors
MSD Digital 6

This combo will get u at least 400rwhp and 400rwtq all NA.

Brian @ adperformance.com has realy good prices on stroker kits and can even assemble a 331 shortblock or longblock. Kuntz or Bennett Racing also does premium quality work. If someone builds u a longblock have the engine builder dyno test it before they send it, it guarantees the power and build, if something is going to go wrong it is usually there.
