My new baby. 88 5.0 gt

Hello guys. My new 88 5.0 mustang gt hatchback 5spd. Excellent exterior/interior condition. Try to keep it short... Stock top and stock bottom end as far as I know. Bbk longtubes. Bbk offroad hpipe. Flowmasters dumped. Weld racing wheels drags and skinnies. Aluminum driveshaft. 6 point roll cage. Msd distributor/wires. Intake. New motor mounts. New king cobra clutch. Short shifter. AC delete. Battery relocation kit to trunk. Stock gears still. Aluminum radiator. Electric fans on toggle switch :( :( :( Thanks for looking guys. My first foxbody but its my third mustang. I want to make it a nice cruiser and take it to carshows... Not really into racing anymore but I definitely wanna show that the muscle is there. My plans are to go Trick flow top end kit and gears and other stuff. Kinda strayed away from the supercharger route because I was told $8-10k parts and labor. Any advice comments always appreciated good or bad. Thanks guys

Thumbs up for another white GT. It's curious that it has a stock top end, but a 6 point cage. Do you know anything about the life of the car before you bought it?

Someone previously put a lot of work into that. Pics look great.
See what gears are in there now, stock 5 spd was 2.73, a very few had 3.23 which was a factory upgrade.
3.55's are a good match, except for the stock T5 1st gear which becomes almost useless, good up to about 20mph.
On a rolling start, I skip 1st gear.

BTW, you can do a SC or turbo for a lot less than $8-10k, about half that if you DIY.

Nice car, + 1 on another white GT! My car is a 88 too. I like the weld wheels. Red interior? My car has the tan interior. I haven’t seen another one with it. Seems most white GT’s have red. Looks good!

Thanks so much bud!! I will get 3.55s sounds like a plan!! He did do alot. He said his plans were like gutting and cutting it up and making over 1000 hp to run 1/8 miles but said it was too much effort. He didnt wanna cut it up because he said the cars in such good shape. Also the mustang performance shop said mininum 8to10 grand. He said it included tuning and all that. They said its a hell of a lot of labor too to install the sc kits. I was surprised because i see vortex Kits for 3 grand on lmr. How much do you think itll set me back? I do still have the stock heads and intake manifold though. Also my cobra clutch is hard to start in first. Gotta rev and slip a little or else itll stall. Cant get a smooth start in 1st.

Yes me too lol and thank you somuch! The PO stated it was going to be his 1/8mile track star but he didnt want to finish it and cut it all up because its in suchgood condition and itll cost him a fortune. He owns a construction company and him and his dad have like 8 harley davidsons they are into. But his buddy recently just got cut in half in a motorcycle accident god rest his soul. To the best of my knowledge or he couldve just pulled out a 15k motor and put the factory one back in lol.

Thank you so much sir! Yes red interior all original

Porno red for the win! Yah, that "shop" is out to lunch. A turbo install may require some fab and removal of fender and front bumper, but a SC install is pretty straight forward. The draglites look nice, but there is no way in hell that I would run skinnies on the street. Ditch the MSD distributor for a factory peice if you can,. If it were me, upgrade the suspension, control arms, throw some 410s in the back, have fun for the summer.

Lol @ porno red. And thanks i thought so too like atleast $8-10k starting for the sc kit. Wth. But I think 410s would be super fun but id probably go a little less crazy lol maybe 373 or 355s. Thanks on the skinnies also. I think they are 175s or 165s with good tread. Definitely dont want to lock them up in an emergency. I only drive this car for shows and little trips around town once in a while. Pretty much a garage queen.

Not a huge difference between the 355 vs 373, or the 373 vs 410. If it's only a garage queen, go with more gear, especially if you are eyeing the TFS top end kit. I have the TFS stage 1 cam with 373s and it's not stellar at lower rpms, really could use a little bit more gear. First gear will be useless no matter what.

Thank you for this. Great to know. I did have 4.10s on my past marauder and loved it. something to think about as a whole before I start mixmatching stuff.

You will not like 4.10's with the T5 manual.
You've been warned, but do what you want.
Ok thanks bud. Im going to leak down and compression test the bottom end next. Once i do that i can have a better look at my options. Figured i drive for a month to see if it burns oil etc. Worried to go the top end kit with more compression and something go boom lol. Im on the fence now with top end kit. Supercharger kit. Or crate motor. Will keep yall updated.
