I got the same cases from TRU, haha! I put my favorites in those because where the shelf is I have a better view of. I also have a big, glass display case that houses all the others.

Very nice collection, makes me feel better about my own now.

^ i got the car stock on a trade from a guy i work with. And put the gmp wheels on it. And you are right on being impossible to get. Lucky the first one i got for 50 bucks. Now you cant touch them for under a 100 bucks. We need people to email gmp and tell them we need a notch in the new casting. If we get enough people to want them they will make them so come all you notch guy email them.

Well, i lost the auction for the white-top GT last night by $1

I've emailed GMP about some model requests....and even sent them a few photos of some cars to do. They are on vacation until after the 7th so don't expect an immediate reply.

I also picked that '87 stock notch up for about $50 waaaay back when they first came out. I don't think the GMP craze was that big..yet.

The only model i paid full retail for was the '93 Cobra. WHy i don't know. They made 3500 of each color making it the most common. 2 months later I paid $50 EACH for the '92 GT and '89 GT vert and if you add those two production runs together they don't even equal the number of teal '93 Cobra's made

The two SVO models get some decent $$$ on ebay. The silver '84 SVO goes for slightly more i've found. The black '86 can be had cheaper. I have both of them, and got my silver '84 from Monsonozz

I hear ya, i'm pre-ording that one myself. I need to get some cases or maybe those clear-tilt cases that hang on the wall and the front opens, those are pretty nice they hold a buch of them in each.

Ya know what irks my ass, That foxbodies colllectible stangs and really no where to be found except GMP. when you goto a car show, they have every car under the sun and for like $15. even ugly ass NYPD cop cars, school buses, this is a time for chinese knock-off's. LMAO!!! ahhahah I cant see spending $100 on a toy car, i'd rather buy a mod for the stang.
I mean they make knock-off of 300Z's, 300M's-chryslers and every tioher mustang on the planet except foxbodies. And if it werent for the "Foxbody" God damn it, the mustang wouldve never been resurectted, We wouldve had to live with the PROBE forvere.
Sorry for the rant, needed to vent.....

Knockoffs of what? They’re not cheap imitations of American merchandise like a knockoff Ipod...

Besides, the GMP models are much more than a toy car you find at the store like Maisto, Bburango, Ertl, etc.

you would have to be really into it Iguess to appreciate the detail of the GMP models. They are way more limited in production, the detail is very nice which makes them a more high end collectable. The $15 junk at the shows aren't much of a collectable to me, in my opinion, and the detail isn't there. even the mastio and some of the ertl's are low on the food chain so to speak.

I know, i know. but when you want to be buy a niece or nephew thats 3 years old a toy mustang, $100 is crazy, especially after what they do to them. Ya dig... $15 @ a local car show works for me for them
As for myself- I still cant see spending $100 on GMP. But thats my opinion.

the new stuff goes for that, I have gotten some gmp's for 45-50 bucks. The main stream price for older stuff is about 70 bucks, you just have to search around, but yes it is still pricey and I strech it out..or try too .

I have a "knock-off" Fox body GT by Welly. It's actually pretty decent for $20. I'll post pictures of it later tonight.

Anyway, you park it next to a GMP car and you can see the difference of $20 vs $100. I wouldn't display the welly car on my desk at work per say as it does look cheap, but i would put the GMP cars on my desk any day. The quality is well worth the $100. It's big, heavy and full of details. When was the last time you had a die cast model where the HOOD PROP was a scale replica of the actual thing! Flip it over and you'll see the front disk brakes HAVE BRAKE SOFT LINES!. You see things like that and you realize it's worth the $100.

These aren't for kids either...they are for ME. I display them, NOBODY touches them at all. I enjoy looking at them.

The best thing about GMP cars is that they are limited production and serialized. With each car you get a build number. My '89 GT is #345 of 800 made. 800 is the amount of kids in an average high school....and that's in the world. Exclusivity is a good thing.

AutoART is another high quality die-cast company. I have their Mach 1 and '98 S351 speedster. Nice models but not as detailed as the GMP stuff.

I also have a few Miasto cars. Not great quality, but accurate enough to own

Hey guys, you never know who's readin' LOL! I've been a stangent member longer than I can remember. But I've been a product development guy at GMP Diecast for a little over 4 years. I was the project lead on the fox body Mustang programs since I started working at GMP. I'm a fox body freak and always will be. I currently own 3, and drive one everyday 60 miles a day to get to work. I'm really glad to see that for the most part people are blown away by these small scale 5.0s and our other stuff as well. We like to hear feedback from the collectors and enthusiasts - this helps us keep a pulse on the market and what you guys want. I promise you, I've talked with the guys I work with at GMP about many of the suggestions we see on the internet, emails, and even face to face with our collectors as well as some of my own ideas as far as what we should be looking at producing. They are a hell of a model for $100. Does anybody notice the retractable seatbelts? How about real metal "5.0" or ford oval emblems? all the plumbing for brake lines, cooling, etc? I'll tell you what will blow your mind and these cars I promise you will be worth a lot just like the real ones - the 1993 Cobra R 1:18. We made only 1000 pcs. and the detail on it is second to none. I met with a local Cobra R owner and he let me diagram just about every nut and bolt of his mint "R". If you check out the coolant degas lines - they are routed exactly like the real car. Look in the driver side lower fog light opening and you see the steering cooler. It's crazy. There's even a bulge in the rear hatch under the hatch carpet from what would be a full size rear spare tire. It goes on and on.
I know guys are screaming for notchbacks, and there's a lot of emails askin' for Saleens. For the remainder of 2008 we won't be tooling anything new but we have a ton of factory as well as custom parts we can still mix and match.
I thought of a Drag Mustang convertible with welds and maybe a Cobra bodykit? Lot's of Nitrous? 4" hood? Maybe some sort of candy paint? Lot's of polish?
Throw out some input, I'm all ears.

I'm def one of those guys sending emails calling for Fox Saleens as well.

If you aren't going to retool, then can i suggest a model based on parts you already have?

A "stock" LX hatchback.

Reason being there is a stock LX notch, a GT hatch, a GT convertible, an LX convertible, SVO's, '93 Cobra, 4-eye GT's, a 4-eye notch (Dark Horse..modded but still worth mentioning)....but no LX hatchback in stock trim. It's the only model not represented yet.

I know you just came out with the drag LX hatch, but there should be a stock trim model as well. You have the parts in inventory. Maybe the LX body, a stock hood, either the 10-holes or pony wheels from the '92 GT, a black interior and maybe a few factory exterior colors like Calypso Green which is a very popular Mustang color.

I myself would personally like a black exterior, black interior LX hatchback...like my car

PS: Some more factory replica wheels would be nice too...like anthracite deep dish bullitts or FR500's.
