I just bought this:

This is the just like the car I had in high school, my very first car. The only difference is that my HS car had a black vinyl top instead of white, and a 302 instead of a 351.

This car is in Wyoming, and I have to get it shipped here. Presently, it has no engine, but still has the tranny. Is there a way to tell if this car came with a Windsor or a Cleveland? It's an H code and I ordered a Marti Report, but I am not sure even a Marti Report can tell me which engine came with it, other than 351 2v.

Yes, the interior looks like Godzilla's playpen, but every man needs a project, I guess.

i believe only the grandes had the "Landau" top as an option and that car also has the cloth inserts in the seats so if it is not a Grande someone went to a bunch of trouble to make it look like one. it may only be the pics but the door panels, well passeger side anyway, look to be in good shape. Mustangs Unlimited is actually selling the correct color deluxe door panels now so if you need new ones that's the place to go. you might also be able to find the correct Hopsack cloth for the inserts from one the NOS upholstery supply places.

the only way to tell that i know of whether the car came with a windsor or cleveland is by the production date. very early cars would have had windsors and everything else got the cleveland. i'm sure Marti can tell you which as he has all the invoices for the engines as well as everything related to the mustang. it may not appear on the report though. i'd suggest calling him to see if he can tell you or at least shoot him an email. he usually responds pretty quickly to general questions. just ask if he is able to tell which engine the car came with and whether or not it willl appear on ANY of the reports.

ya know, now that i think about it, i don't think the landau top was introduced until later in the 70 model year and i can't recall ever seeing a landau top 351 car that wasn't a cleveland. this may or may not help you out but i thought i'd throw it out there.

I have seen my share of 70 Grandes over the years, but I haven't seen a Calypso Coral one since I sold mine in high school. Maybe I can get this sucker done by my 30th reunion. That would crack a few of the boys up.
