I was in the Marines and the crap they use for their weapos is a joke. It was called CLP. The stupid thing is that they insist you use it and nothing else. We used WD40 (because it was the only other thing we had) on the weapons when we were on ship.

I THINK CLP makes or is affiliated with Break-Free. I don't use the CLP type that I think you are refereing to, but I like the spray in the link I posted above. WD-40 is low on my list for just about anything, and I wouldn't use it for gun cleaning.
EDIT: Went and checked my can and CLP and Break-Free are one and the same. hmmm I like it
I've used BreakFree in the service a lot. I still have a bottle of it that I use as a last resort. We use PB Blaster in the shop too. Interesting liquid wrench came out ahead in the test....I've never heard of ATF + acetone. Might have to try that next week....
