My obsession.

New to the forums - just wanted to say howdy and such.

I've owned my Pony for about 10 years now. I was in the beginning stages of resto/modding when I guess the lord decided it was time for me to stop. ( I was injured and it left me incopacitated for 8 years ).

I've done most of the mechanical end of things. About to jump on the Interior now. Then paint. The paint on it is bubbling and I need to replace floor pans, so when I pull the interior I'll just do it all at once.

I'm having too much fun driving it atm, so that may not happen till mid winter.

66' Coupe. 289 A code. I went with a PA street/strip valve body to get away from the cruise-o-matic shift pattern. So far, I'm very happy with the Tranny build.

289 was bored .060 over and she's topped with an Edlebrock performer intake and matching 600 cfm carb. 2.80 gears keep the rpm's reasonable at highway speeds.

New Craiger SS old school wheels and 60 seriers tires. I'm hoping to convert to disc fronts in the future, however, for now the drums will have to suffice.

Nice ride! Everybody loves the 2+2's and 'verts, but there were about 7,000% more coupes built; and you've got a pretty doggone nice basic platform on which to build.

If you're back in good physical shape; it's time to do the same for your Mustang. Get in there and make her whatever meets your expectation of "perfect"!

While I started out plans on a '67 coupe, things have changed; and now I have a project with a '73 Cougar XR7 (sort of a cross between a 'Stang and a Lincoln Continental Mk III) for my still-at-home daughter. Comparing parts availabilty (especially body panels) between a '65-66 and a '71-73 (and a Merc with a Cleveland at that); I envy you!

And finally, welcome to the "Classics" section of :SNSign: Crack the lid on your favorite beverage and dangle your feet in The Gutter. A better bunch of guys -and ladies- you won't meet anywhere else on the Web!

Here's the kicker about the whole deal. My soon to be 16 yr old Daughter was to be the new owner once she obtained her license.

Infact, I thought I would surprise her when the school year started this year and tell her my plans. That way she could get involved with the resto work and appreciate it that much more.

When I did tell her, she said - eww, I'm not driving that ugly thing!

I was actually speechless for a few seconds. I then said - alrighty, enjoy the cheese wagon.

I went and purchased her a 97 Grand AM GT. Since then I've been doing the work and driving the stang. I've even picked her up from school a couple times in it. The kids there are breaking their necks and running over each other looking at the car.

She tried to have a change of heart, however, I just said I appreciate her new found appreciation for the car, however, I'll be the only one driving it now.
