You could try a mild poishing compound in the dull area to get the shine back.You use the compound the wax and then polish.I would not use a rubber wheel to remove the pinstrip.Would leave marks.Use the hair dryer or park your car in the hot sun all day and the peel it off.I would try alcohol in the dull areas to make sure it is not left over glue.If polishing compound does not work you have to wet sand it.
